Synopsis[]

In the world of Ente Isla, the Demon Lord Satan has attempted to conquer humanity using an enormous army of demons. But when he almost succeeds, mankind's champion, Hero Emilia, thwarts his plans, forcing him to retreat into a portal that leads to a world unbeknownst to him—Earth.

Along with his faithful servant Alsiel, Satan stumbles upon the modern-day city of Tokyo without any knowledge of the world itself. Completely out of their depth, they gain some information from a police officer, but Satan still has one more problem—money. In order to survive with his greatly diminished powers, he guises himself as a human named Sadao Maou, lives in an apartment, and becomes a part-timer at the fast food restaurant MgRonald's. Determined not only to conquer Ente Isla but also Earth, Sadao strives to become a full-time employee in his job, as he believes that it would be a step forward in his conquests.

Things begin looking up for the once all-powerful demon as he ventures through his everyday life—his job, his home, and his relationships. However, a major setback pops up when Emilia, the hero who drove him out of Ente Isla, suddenly appears...

Character[]

The main character of this work, the demon king who rules over the demon world. After losing the battle with the hero Emilia in Ente Isla, he drifted ashore in Japan on Earth and took on a human form. After many hardships, he decided to use Room 201 of the 60-year-old run-down apartment "Villa Rosa Sasazuka" in Sasazuka, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo as a temporary Demon King's castle, and lived with his confidant Ar Ciel, Ashiya (later joined by Urushibara), to restore the Demon King's army. I swear in my heart As the first step in his new "world domination", he works as a part-time clerk at MgRonald's Hatagaya Ekimae store in order to obtain a full-time position in Japan, and is positively working hard. While living in Japan, he became interested in the earth's industry and the "values of money" that are not found in the demon world. Since he had achieved his goal of creating a demon world where everyone can smile, he decided not to return to the demon world until then.

Although his personality is basically optimistic, he has a large-minded side due to the experience of overcoming various pasts, and has a very friendly side. Her fair and law-abiding way of life makes Emi and Suzuno think that he doesn't look like a demon king. Due to his thrifty lifestyle, most of his belongings are bare bones. He likes heavily seasoned foods such as junk food. He sometimes steals Ashiya's eyes and likes to go to the movies.

Born into the weak race of the demon world, the "Black Goat Clan," his own race, including his parents, was attacked by other demons and annihilated. He was seriously injured and was on the brink of death when he was rescued by the angel Lyra, who taught him various things, such as letters and the origins of this world. After he grew up, he succeeded in unifying the demon world by attracting excellent brains such as Kamio and Ar Ciel to his comrades with his natural ability. After that, in order to cope with the increase in the absolute number of demons due to the infrastructure development of the demon world, and the rapid depletion of magic resources brought about as a result, he embarked on the capture of Ente Isla. After capturing the Central Continent, he has been researching how human society should be, and because he entrusted the conquest of the four continents to his confidants, it resulted in excessive destruction and looting in some areas. Although he doesn't usually show it publicly, for the choices he made, he created an irreparable chasm with humans, and even destroyed the lives of many people who believed in him and followed him. He continued to feel regret for his actions, and confessed his feelings to Suzuno.

In Ente Isla, he mastered all the languages of the ruling area without using magic, and on Earth, he is fluent in English in addition to Japanese. Sensitive to other people's conspiracies and malice, sharp insight and powers of observation, and generally smart enough to adapt to life on Earth, he was promoted to McGronald Class A Crew Time Zone Manager in just one month. He is in the middle of the work, and even when he gets into trouble several times, he avoids it with his quick wits. However, on the other hand, he is indifferent to his feelings of goodwill and favor, and there are scenes where he can't understand the feelings of Chiho, who likes him, and makes him angry with remarks and attitudes without delicacy.

He usually looks like a normal person, but when he regains his magical power, he is about 3 meters tall, has a huge muscular body, beast's lower legs, wings growing on his back, and has the power to frighten anyone who sees him. It becomes a barrel and wields tremendous power. In combat, he uses a variety of magic, and is almost evenly matched with Emilia, who wields the holy sword, and other high-ranking angels. In addition, the use of magical power is not limited to combat, but also the creation of buildings, hypnotic magic that interferes with the minds of others, teleportation magic that transfers space, magic barriers that block space itself, and restoration of places destroyed by battle. There are many applications of this power. Its powerful magical power is equivalent to "walking deadly poison" for ordinary people who are not resistant to it, and when ordinary people touch it, they suffer from palpitations, shortness of breath, and fatigue for unknown reasons. When turmoil erupts, he regains her magical power in various ways, but every time he uses it up to clean up after the battle.

At first, he was puzzled by Alas Ramus, who admires himself as "Papa", but after realizing that he was an incarnation of the seed entrusted to him by Lyra, he recognized her as his "daughter" and decided to take her. After the battle with Gabriel who came to bring back Aras Ramus, when he fused with the "evolution holy sword, one wing" and disappeared, he showed a state of depression to the point of numbness, and after the reunion, Aras・Began to dote on Ramus more and act like a parent.

When the heavenly powers and demons of the main battle faction attacked Sasahata North High School, he fused with Asies Ara, the incarnation of Yesod, sister of Aras Ramus, and became able to handle the holy sword like Emi. After that, he travels to Ente Isla with Suzuno to rescue Emi and Ashiya, but due to the reaction between Asies' holy spirit and her own magical power, he is unable to return to her demon form, and is in a situation where he cannot fuse with Asies. I fall into it. However, Acies regained her power by taking in a fragment of Yesod, which is closer to her magical power, and manifested her holy sword again, annihilating the angels with overwhelming power. He safely rescued Emi and the others, and returned to Japan under the guidance of Shiba. After finishing his fight at Ente Isla, he got his moped license for the third time honesty for the Hatagaya shop's new business, delivery.

For Mao, the denunciation from Emi was a symbol of the result of acting as a king by weighing the tragedy of her compatriots and humans, and on the surface he was trying to be the "hateful king of the devil" for her. However, after returning from Ente Isla, he is greatly confused by Emi, who throws away her feelings and conveys her honest feelings. He also doesn't draw any conclusions about Chiho's affection for him based on her race, lifespan, etc., but he doesn't know what his intentions are without those things. From Volume 15 onwards, he finally takes part in training to become a full-time employee, which he has longed for, but the results are unsuccessful. After the Ente Isla riot, he planned to maintain his life in Japan without getting too involved in the situation, but after hearing Aras Ramus' wish to "see his separated brothers and sisters", he decided to fulfill this wish. Decided to overthrow Ignora and other angels and release the Sephiroth.

Initiate a God Strike battle with his companions. In Volume 20, in order to satisfy the deep desires of Alas Ramus, who has changed, he will start living together with Emi under the direction of Tenne. When I made a family register in Japan, I was 20 years old, but my actual age is over 300 years old. he lives in Room 201 of Sasazuka Villa Rosa Sasazuka, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo.

Sadao Maou

Negative Energy Manifestation-Maou

As the Devil King, Satan possessed great demonic power. Demonic force is extremely strong, and each user seems to have a unique colored aura to indicate its presence. For him, that color is black or red. On Earth, he lost most of his powers and was weakened to the point that he could only function as an average human. Finding magical sources was near impossible as magic is largely only present in the form of fiction. However, his powers can be temporarily restored by feeding off negative emotions like 「sadness」,「fear」, and 「despair」 from sentient beings in his surroundings.

  • Demonic Transformation: Maou can transform between his human and demon forms at will, provided he has enough magic. When running low, he automatically takes human form. When he regains his powers, Maou undergoes a drastic change in his physical appearance, gaining an extremely robust body, claws, hooves, and horns.
  • Hypnosis/Mind Control: He has the power to influence the wills of humans and animals, as well as gather information from their minds.
  • Magical Combat: As the Devil King, he was seen projecting powerful energy blasts and defending with shields against his opponents in the final battle for Ente Isla. During his fight with Lucifer, Maou combined dark magic and his augmented physical strength to perform a nuclear-scale finishing punch.
  • Telekinesis: Maou has telekinetic powers that allows him to manipulate objects. They are so strong, that they're capable of lifting an entire road highway and keeping it afloat for an extended period of time.
  • Teleportation: Maou is able to teleport with another person in tow, as shown when he used it to help him and Emi flee from Lucifer. The limitations to this ability are unknown.
  • Glamour: With enough magical power, Maou is able to change his appearance at will. This is demonstrated during his battle with Sariel, Maou briefly took the form of Chiho to take him by surprise when Sariel thought to use Chiho as a human shield against him.
  • Forcefield Generation: Maou created one to protect him, Emi, and Ashiya from Lucifer's barrage of energy bullets. In his demon form, he has made individual shields for dozens of people to protect them from falling rubble.
  • Sleep Spell: Maou cast this on the city's populace to stop them from witnessing the battle with Lucifer.
  • Time Barrier: Maou can generate a magical field that can temporarily suspend time.
  • Magic Transfer: Maou transferred magic to Ashiya in order to help him recover from his injuries. It is unknown if this ability is only limited to demons, or if he can transfer magic to other creatures as well.
  • Pain Stare: During his fight against Lucifer and Olba, Maou made Olba lose consciousness by simply looking at him. It also seemed to inflict damage, as Olba was heard grunting in pain before losing his consciousness. The details of this magic are still largely unknown.
  • Demonic Sword: During his fight with the archangel Sariel, Maou was able to transform an ordinary broom into a great demonic sword using magic, and used it to instantly defeat Sariel in one blow, whilst destroying half the city in the process.
  • Restoration: As shown after his battles with both Lucifer and Sariel, he has the power to repair any form of collateral damage, no matter how great, at the expense of a large amount, if not all of, his magic.
  • Regeneration: In his demon form, Maou is able to regenerate his damaged body with high speed. When Lucifer used his purple magic projectiles to shoot a number of holes through Maou's body by shooting him, Maou was able to heal his wounds after he transformed.
  • Flight: He is able to fly in his demon form at high speed.

Maou possesses a keen intelligence. He was able to piece events together and deduce a logical and correct conclusion with relative ease, such as when he figured out Lucifer's motivations for the mugging incidents around the neighborhood to accumulate power without much information. The best example of his intelligence is how he was able to nearly conquer Ente Isla, with the education and knowledge he learned and memorized 300 years prior to the story (which was a feat unrivaled by any in history). His intelligence remains the same regardless of his form.

  • Monstrous Strength: When transformed, he gains an incredible strength which makes him able to lift falling debris weighting tons and are many times larger than himself and he has far superior reflexes than other demons. During the battle against Lucifer, Maou was able to move so fast that Lucifer was unable to react, resulting in his utter defeat in just a flash.
  • Battle Continuation: Despite his more fragile human body, he was still able to continue running after being blasted by Lucifer's magic bullets right in his vital body parts until his leg was shot by Olba. In demon form, Satan is able to resist powerful attacks without so much as a scratch, even emerging unharmed from magical attacks and explosions.
