Soreyuke! Uchuu Senkan Yamamoto Youko (それゆけ!宇宙戦艦 ヤマモト・ヨーコ, Starship Girl Yamamoto Yohko) is a Japanese anime series based on a novel by Takashi Shōji. It consists of two 3-episode OVA sets and a 26-episode television series animated by J.C.Staff and directed by Akiyuki Shinbo. The series was released in the United States by The Right Stuf International on DVD in 2003.

Overview[]
It is a masterpiece that has continued from the early days of Shoji Shoji 's calligraphy, but it was discontinued in 2001, leaving only the final volume. On July 1, 2010 the publisher changed to Sonorama Novels, and it was announced on the author's website that it would be completed as a new edition of 5 volumes. If you include Gaiden, it won't fit in 5 volumes, and the number of volumes is undecided." In the 10th volume of the complete version, all the stories announced in Fantasia Bunko were recorded, and in the postscript of the 11th volume of the complete version, it was announced that the 12th volume would be completed.
It was also developed into an anime version and a manga version, and the anime version is one of the early works directed by Akiyuki Shinbo, who later became famous. The character design of the original illustration was not diverted to the anime version and manga version, and the original character design was produced and used in each media.
Synopsis[]
OVA[]
Meet Yohko Yamamoto - a cat-eyed, 15-year-old girl in the late 20th century with a love for videogames and Pocky. Because of her exceptional talent with arcade shooters, she's been recruited by Lawson to travel a thousand years into the future to pilot the prototype ship TA-29. Together with Ayano Elizabeth Hakuhoin, Madoka Midoh and Momiji Kagariya, Yohko leads the Terran team against Rouge and Ness' infamous Red Snappers in this epic space adventure.
Anime (1999)[]
In the year 2999: humanity is split into two factions, Terra and Ness, in a war fought by starships. One of the foremost of the pilots is the cocky teenager Yamamoto Yohko, and during one of her missions, she and her crew are sucked into a temporal anomaly (a la Star Trek) that sends her back to our time. Amnesiac, she only thinks of herself as a typical high school student - until a course of events sends her back to her ship the TA-29, with her newfound friends fighting at her side in a war that looks suspiciously like an arcade game (complete with 100 yen ignition costs!).
OVA II[]
There is an ancient legend on a distant planet which states (among other things) that four goddesses will one day descend from the skies and all will be right with the world.
Of course meanwhile, Yohko and the rest of the Terra team (with one straggler) have crashed on a backwater world, and they have to figure out a way off before their new charge... gets hungry again!
Every so often, a celebration takes place in one of the most beautiful places in the Universe... a cosmic Sakura fest! Since the Terra Team has been doing so well, one of them is invited to join the high command as they meet their opposite numbers from NESS. It's a time of celebration and a time of peace... but it seems that someone didn't get the message.

The mechanical design is original. It also describes how the world in the 20th century and 1000 years from now have a very different aesthetic sense. In a notable example, Rouge and the others describe things that Yoko and the others thought were "cute" as "scary," and conversely, things that the Rouge and the others thought were "cool" and Yoko and the others described them as "scary." In addition, English grammar has changed significantly between the 20th century and 1000 years later, and Lawson described 20th century English as "ancient characters."

『Soreyuke! Uchuu Senkan Yamamoto Youko: Remix (それゆけ!宇宙戦艦ヤマモト・ヨーコRemix)』 2 volumes

A new series that started in conjunction with TV animation. The mecha design and character clothes are from the TV anime version, but the character settings are the same as the original. Also, the main rival team is not the Red Snappers, but the Fish Team, which does not appear in the TV anime version.
Character[]
The first high school girl who was scouted as a battleship player from the modern world to the relative future of the 30th century. She has excellent grades and is versatile in sports (in the anime version she was often borrowed from the sports club to help out, and in the comic version of Miyone Shiina, she scored a dunk in basketball class despite her height). According to him, he has a busy school life. She also excels in various fields such as cooking and sewing, and she has demonstrated her professional acting skills in theater , and at the school festival she performed the role of Rosalind in Shakespeare's "As You Like It". rice field. Her only flaw is her Western self-assertive personality, which makes her a nuisance to her teachers at school. In her original work, she told her grandmother, who lives in the United States, "Because of her personality, she will not be able to integrate into Japanese society, so her university and her job should come back to America." I was told On the other hand, among her classmates, especially female students, she is overwhelmingly popular regardless of grade, and on Valentine's Day, she receives a large amount of chocolate (chocolate given by a homosexual female student), was accompanied by a rather questionable letter.
She is also a well-known gamer in her hometown, and has sunk many ships with her reflexes cultivated in shooting games. Although she did not reach the year's shut-down king because he often participated in the war from the middle and was sent out for special missions, she became TERRA's ace pilot in an instant. Due to her obsession with games, she is required to put in a 100-yen coin into an arcade-like coin slot to start her starship.
Because of her long slit eyes (which are said to be greenish in color) she sometimes has a cat-like image. A returnee who lived in the United States until elementary school in the quarter of Belgian American immigrants. In Japan, her name is Yoko Yamamoto, but her full name is Yohko Dolores Asami Darlton Yamamoto. She was called by her middle name "Dolores". After returning to Japan, she kept it a secret, but the reason for her is that "Lolita" exists in the variant nickname of "Dolores".
Her is a fan of the professional baseball "Yomiuri Giants". Although she is a game freak, she is a true shooter, so she strongly dislikes RPGs, especially the products of "Kyoto Hanafuda" (a slang word for Nintendo), and her classmates bring new game software to school. I once threw it out of the floor window into the schoolyard. The reason whys she dislikes RPGs is unknown, but in the manga version, she breaks through the passages of the maze-shaped fortress in a straight line because it's "troublesome", so it seems that she's not good at games that use her head. As a game freak, it is called by nicknames such as "Kita Ayase's Ultimate Weapon" and "Queen of Polygon", and it is said that "If you make Kyoto hate you, you can't lose to Haneda" (an abbreviation for Nintendo and Sega, respectively).
It seems that she doesn't hate the Meo Trolls Fuliger and Lawson, but she rarely takes proactive actions, which is one of the reasons why Momiji is upset. On the other hand, she is aware that Rouge is in love with Hooliger, and when she reveals to Rouge that she danced with Hooliger, she is upset and afraid of her anger, there is a sensitive part to her other people's romantic feelings.
Abilities[]
She is a 20th-century high school girl who excels in grades and is good at sports. She is positive about everything and has a strong spirit of challenge and she is a hardcore gamer, preferring space fight simulations, and is occasionally bribed using games. She doesn't deny the possibility, she always believes in doing her best and she never compromises.
However, at times, it " disregards even ensuring the safety of oneself and those around them, ignores risk prediction and situation analysis, and wants to jump into danger with only a challenging spirit and curiosity (and wants to ask those around them to do the same). " It gives her the nature of a dangerous bomb girl.
Because of her personality, beliefs, and nature, she has a habit of saying, "I hate the word it can't be helped!" Blame without considering the circumstances. She is a well-known local gamer (shooter), and thanks to her experience, she quickly became the ace of TERRA as a space battleship pilot. Although he is a shooter as described above, as a gamer.
Due to her obsession with games, she is required to put in a 100-yen coin into an arcade-like coin slot to start her starship.

Broadcast from April 4, 1999 to September 26, 1999 every Sunday from 9:30 to 10:00 on TV Osaka production and TV Tokyo. The 26 episodes in total.
In addition to being a completely original story, the world view and character settings, including the above-mentioned content, have been significantly changed from the original. For example, in the original, the Red Snappers, who had been losing to the Estana Trehi team, won a complete victory at the first match.
In this work, it can be said that the style of subsequent Shinbo works was established, such as directing with many dark colors and shadows, small jokes that make use of props and characters' characteristics, and changing the eye catch every time.
