Character[]

Haruyoshi is the strongest onmyōji (diviner) in his world. He's betrayed by his friends and, on the verge of death, he wishes to be happy in his next life. He then attempts a secret reincarnation spell. The spell is a success and he is reincarnated, but somehow it's in another world. He is reborn into a distinguished family of wizards but is judged to have no magical ability. He soon realizes however that the magic in this world is nothing compared to his old Onmyōdo arts, and he declares that he doesn't need magic. He thus begins his easy life in another world with his onmyōdo arts and a multitude of yōkai creatures who follow him.

Now reincarnated as Seika Lamprogue by the "Curse of Reincarnation" that he devised. He doesn't have the magic that is widely used in other worlds, but he has the wisdom of when he was an onmyōji, as well as abundant magical powers. During his lifetime, he was murdered for fear of his mighty power, so he tries to live "inconspicuously and cunningly" to seize happiness.

Seika's appearance in her previous life was a man who was touted as the strongest Onmyōji of all time. He greedily sought power without caring about his surroundings. He had a gentle side, such as taking an orphan as his disciple and loving Yuki, who lacked the ability of a ghost, but his excessive power was seen as dangerous, and he was defeated by his beloved disciple due to the Imperial Court's conspiracy.

Abilities[]

"Who needs magic? I'll survive in this world with my old techniques!"

Seika Lamprogue

Seika Lamprogue (Haruyoshi) is the most powerful master of Onmyōdo, or Japanese magic. He doesn't have the magical powers that are widely used in other worlds, but he has the wisdom of traditional Japanese esoteric cosmology, a mixture of natural science and occultism. It is a very eclectic blend, including Wu Xing and Godai (Five Elements), Yin and Yang, shikigami (cursed spirits), and divination to ofuda and alchemy. Because he is a master of spiritual arts, his spiritual forces are larger than a normal human or A-rank Mage has a decent in magic power.

  • Onmyōdō (meaning "The Way of Yin and Yang") is Japanese-style spell-casting. Methods range from Yin/Yang, Five Elements, Shikigami, and Divination to O-Fuda and Alchemy. Onmyodo is a very eclectic blend; while it can be treated as simply Rule Magic, it also has elements of Force Magic and Theurgy.
  • Onmyō Arts is activated by reciting the mantra, consuming its spiritual power using a paper doll (Shikigami) as a catalyst, it's very similar to the [magic] that people in this world consume when activating their magical power.
  • Gobosei (pentagram) In Japanese culture, this is a symbol of magical power, associated with Abe no Seimei; it is a diagram of the "overcoming cycle" of the five Chinese elements (Wu Xing).
  • Kuji-In and Kuji-kiri (The Nine Syllable Seals and the Nine Symbolic Cuts), are also among Onmyodo techniques, though they were never unique to Onmyodo.
  • Eastern Zodiac, One of the divination means Onmyoji employed. During the Heian era, Onmyoji was also responsible for making calendars. As part of that system, The Four Gods were thus also incorporated into Onmyodo. and Feng Shui (fortune telling), Another Chinese influence amalgamated into Onmyodo.

Shikigami (式神) (also read as Shiki-no-kami (式の神) , in traditional Japanese folklore, are either invisible or appear in the shape of neatly folded paper manikins. However, in the film's adaptation, the Shikigami are portrayed as fully visible, semi-humanoid paper creatures with the ability to fly at extremely high speeds (on par with Haku in his dragon form). They are white and resemble birds and have a circular head, wings, and a pointed "tail". When magically commanded, they can stand (or hover) on the tip of their tails and plaster themselves onto a person's body. The paper doll (Shikagami) is also used as a boost to the user's physical/senses or even cast an instant evasion even teleportation to another place.

  • Shikigami are conjured beings, made alive through a complex conjuring ceremony. Their power is connected to the spiritual force of their master, where if the invoker is well introduced and has much experience, their shiki can possess animals and even people and manipulate them, but if the invoker is careless, their shikigami may get out of control in time, gaining its own will and consciousness and can even raid its own master and kill them in revenge. Usually, shikigami are conjured to exercise risky orders for their masters, such as spying, stealing, and enemy tracking. Shikigami is said to be invisible most of the time, but they can be made visible by binding them into small, folded, and artfully cut paper manikins. There are also shikigami that can show themselves as animals.
  • Shikigami is a form of weapon utilized by spiritualists and Onmyoji. The basic concept behind Shikigami is summoning a spirit into a vessel, and it is common for one to use paper dolls. It is also possible for one to summon them into the body of a person or animal, though this is risky as this gives the Shikigami greater power, and with power the risk of rebellion. They have a variety of uses, and can also be treated as soldiers or minions instead of weapons. Most of the time, Shikigami are invisible to the eye, so they can be used for spying or assassination. Those who wield Shikigami are considered supporters, as the wielders themselves typically don't do much fighting, with the exception being Onmyoji. Keeping Shikigami wielders in the back will be quite helpful, as the summoned Shikigami can assume more humanoid forms and fight alongside the main combatants. This also means that a wielder can do just fine on their own, assuming that they have Shikigami fighting for them.

"Power is numbers. Strength is the cunning with which it is manipulated. Individual violence is inconsequential to the world."

Seika Lamprogue

Seika also uses Jutsu which deals with the power of curses. It doesn't have a specific name for its technique, but it does scary things occasionally. Seika beat up his brother who always gets involved. He just crumpled the arms of the human-shaped curse, and his brother held his arms and fell. What's more, it's just a pain, and it's not broken. This means that you can inflict only pain as long as you like, forever.

Furthermore, he also managed to repel the magic that the enemy used. Rather, for Seika, who used to be an Onmyoji, this might be her specialty in completing the Condition. Specifically, when the condition has been met the act of pouring demon blood/Ordinary blood on itself in front of the enemy's caster, becoming cursed, and returning the curse by the incantation of the mantra. There shouldn't be any need to go out of your way to do that in front of the caster, but I think it's quite an inciting attribute to do it.

Well, I thought I would ask various things from the caster, so I dared to appear in front of the caster's eyes. And the caster who was cursed back vomited blood and fell and died as it was. It's a moment. If you ask him what he wants to know, he will easily kill him. Seika said to him that his not good at swordsmanship.

《Familiar》
Yokai

Kitsune (Yuki), are foxes that possess paranormal abilities that increase as they get older and wiser. According to yōkai folklore, all foxes have the ability to shapeshift into human form. While some folktales speak of kitsune employing this ability to trick others—as foxes in folklore often do—other stories portray them as faithful guardians, friends, and lovers. Foxes and humans lived close together in ancient Japan; this companionship gave rise to legends about the creatures. Kitsune have become closely associated with Inari, a Shinto kami or spirit, and serve as its messengers. This role has reinforced the fox's supernatural significance. The more tails a kitsune as—they may have as many as nine—the older, wiser, and more powerful it is. Because of their potential power and influence, some people make sacrifices to them as to a deity.

  • Mantra: ओम् चतुर्दश दश त्रीणि नव नव एकम् निरह्वयति सकल स्वाहा”
Hitotsume-nyūdō (一つ目入道, one-eyed priest) is a yōkai of Japan that has the appearance of an ōnyūdō that has only one eye. They can be seen in the legends and folklore of various places, and like the mikoshi-nyūdō, there are some that expand and contract their height. In Kyoto, it is said that their true identity is that of a fox (kitsune). Also, a hitotsume-nyūdō appears in the Kaidan Inō Mononoke Roku from the Edo period, and there was a picture depicting it attempting to capture the main character Heitarō (refer to image), but this one is a tanuki that has shapeshifted.
  • In Hidaka District, Wakayama Prefecture, there is a yōkai tale as follows. A young fellow was on the way from Kamishiga to Ena (now Yura, Hidaka District), and he came across a splendid procession. It didn't appear to be a feudal lord or a marriage, but when he climbed a tree to spectate, the procession stopped at the base of the tree, and from a large palanquin, a large man with one eye about 1 to tall appeared, climbed the tree, and attempted to attack the young fellow. When the young fellow was absorbed and was slashed at with a sword, it is said that the old man and the procession all disappeared.
  • This hitotsume-nyūdō and the hitotsume-kozō have the appearance of a nyūdō (monk), but there is a theory that it comes from the yōkai called "ichigan hitoashi hōshi (一眼一足法師, one-eyed one-footed hōshi)" from Mount Hiei. As its name implies, it is a yōkai or yūrei with the appearance of a monk with one eye and one foot, and it is said that when a monk idles on his training on Mount Hiei, he would be admonished by being stared at with one eye, and lazy monks would be driven out of the mountain. This hōshi has been specified to be what the 18th Tendaizasu, Ryōgen (or his best pupil, the 19th Tendaizasu Jinzen) turned into, and it is believed that Ryōgen, who judged the monks on strict precepts, lamented at how the monks became secularized after his death, became thus a yōkai and admonished the monks. Nowadays at Enryaku-ji on Mount Hiei, there remains a picture of this hōshi in Sōjibō, a small temple where monks in training live.

Ōmukade (おおむかで, "giant centipede") is a yōkai in Japanese mythology. The Ōmukade is a giant man-eating centipede that lives in the mountains. While it eats humans, the Ōmukade has a weakness in human saliva. It also preys on great serpents and dragons. A giant centipede or mukade was killed near Lake Biwa by Fujiwara no Hidesato (aka Tawara Tōda Hidesato, "Rice bag Tōda") according to the legendary tale Tawara Tōda Monogatari. While crossing the bridge over the lake, Tawara was sought by a giant serpent to avenge the killing of her sons and grandsons. This centipede made its lair at Mount Mikami nearby. Tawara shot two ineffective arrows, but the third arrow smeared with his saliva proved lethal.

Kamaitachi (鎌鼬) is a Japanese yōkai often told about in the Kōshin'etsu region and can also refer to the strange events that this creature causes. They appear riding on dust devils and they cut people using the nails on both their hands that are like sickles. One would receive a sharp, painless wound.

  • So Seika summoned a wind attribute-like youkai. I don't know if Kamaitachi has the wind attribute, but for the time being it seems to have the power to tear golems apart with a single blow.
  • Kamaitachi is a very famous youkai. It appears in a whirlwind and cuts people, but the wounds are said to be painless and bloodless. According to local legends, it has various forms, such as a monster with a sickle, three evil gods, and a giant praying mantis. By the way, there is also a theory that the name originally comes from "Kamae Tachi", and it is said that the name and appearance of mammals have been established since the Edo period.

Satori (覚, "consciousness") in Japanese folklore are mind-reading monkey-like monsters ("yōkai") said to dwell within the mountains of Hida and Mino (presently Gifu Prefecture). People are said to meet them while walking along mountain paths or resting in the mountains. Upon reading a person's mind, the satori would say the person's thoughts aloud faster than a human could. There is also a theory that they are the child incarnations of mountain gods who have come to ruin and turned into a yōkai form.
They would appear before people at mountain huts and are even said to try to eat and kill if they have a chance, but if something unexpectedly strikes the satori, they become stricken with fear and run away. There is also a theory that they do not present any danger to people and would not dare to harm those who work on the mountain, allowing people to coexist with satori.

Onbonoyasu (Ombonoyas [オンボノヤス, Monk's Night Curtain]) or Obonoyasu is an unidentified yōkai that is said to haunt the mountains of Tamura, Fukushima Prefecture. It is said that if it encounters a human being in the mountains, it will spew out mist and spray it. It is said that those who are covered by the fog will lose their way, and the risk of getting lost will increase.
  • Onbonoyasu is quite minor, and it seems that the name is in the folklore of the Tamura region of Fukushima Prefecture (just in the middle of the prefecture). It is said that when it encounters a human being in the mountains, it spits out mist and wrecks it. By the way, the word ombo means tail? It seems that there is also a theory that the figure is an animal with a tail.
The Ushi-Oni (牛鬼, Ox Oni (demon)), or gyūki, is a yōkai from the folklore of western Japan. The folklore describes more than one kind of ushi-oni, but the depiction of a bovine-headed monster occurs in most. Ushi-oni generally appears on beaches and attacks people who walk there. A terror from Western Japan, ushi oni is a class of monster that lives near water. The name means “ox demon,” and it refers to several different monsters with bovine traits. Most Ushi oni resembles an ox from the head up and a demonic horror below. Many variations are known to exist; the body of an ox with a head like an oni’s; the head of an ox on a body like a spider’s or a cat’s; or even an ox’s head on the body of a kimono-clad human (a Japanese version of the minotaur).
Konaki-jiji (子泣き爺, Konaki-Jijī, translated into Old man crying) is a kind of Japanese yōkai, a supernatural spirit in Japanese folklore. It is similar to the Scandinavian Myling. The Konaki-jiji is said to be able to take the appearance of an old man or a baby. In either case, the spirit lures an unwary passerby towards it and allows him or her to pick it up. After the spirit is picked up, it suddenly becomes a heavy stone that crushes the victim to death. In some versions of Konaki-jiji stories, the spirit is that of a baby left to die in the wilderness.
The Konaki-jiji can be traced back to family records in Shikoku where the term was used to describe an old man who sounded like a child when he cried. The term was eventually used in a national encyclopedia of yōkai and became a nationally known phenomenon
The nurikabe (塗り壁 or 塗壁) is a yōkai, or spirit, from Japanese folklore. Its name translates to "plaster wall", and it is said to manifest as an invisible wall that impedes or misdirects travelers from walking at night. Sometimes referred to in English as "The Wall" or "Mr. Wall", this yōkai is described as quite tall, to prevent people from climbing over it, and wide enough to dampen any attempts to go around it. Japanese scholar and folklorist Kunio Yanagita recorded perhaps the most prominent early example of nurikabe and other yōkai in his books.
Yamabiko (山彦) is a mountain god, spirit, and yōkai in Japanese folklore. Translated, "Yamabiko" means "echo". It is the yōkai responsible for the natural phenomenon in mountains or canyons. Living deep in the mountains, direct encounters with the yamabiko are rare. Often they are heard but never seen. The small and elusive yokai wasn't officially classified until the Edo period in Japan. Instead, the bizarre noises coming from the mountain were attributed to a natural phenomenon, like birds, and not given any spiritual significance. It is usually depicted with gray fur, a peach-colored belly, floppy ears, a large grin, and arms outstretched as though it is caught mid-shrug.
Soranaki (そらなき), Although it is classified as a yōkai, it is a character that was born in recent years and does not have the aspect of folklore from ancient times. It was the Japanese-style adventure game "Okami" released in 2006 that triggered its recognition, but its birth was complicated, including misinterpretations, and initially caused confusion and controversy. However, even though the form is different, there are some similarities in the birth history of the youkai from ancient times, so in a sense, it can be said that it is a youkai that was born in the present age. It is often read as 'kuubo', but some people prefer to read it as "soranaki" to distinguish it from kuubo, which means killing in heaven.
Preta (餓鬼) also known as hungry ghost, is the Sanskrit name for a type of supernatural being described in Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, and Chinese folk religion as undergoing suffering greater than that of humans, particularly an extreme level of hunger and thirst. They have their origins in Indian religions and have been adopted into East Asian religions via the spread of Buddhism. Preta is often translated into English as "hungry ghost" from the Chinese and East Asian adaptations. Pretas are believed to have been false, corrupted, compulsive, deceitful, jealous, or greedy people in a previous life. As a result of their karma, they are afflicted with an insatiable hunger for a particular substance or object. Traditionally, this is something repugnant or humiliating, such as cadavers or feces, though in more recent stories, it can be anything, however bizarre. In addition to having an insatiable hunger for an aversive item, pretas are said to have disturbing visions. Pretas and human beings occupy the same physical space and while humans looking at a river would see clear water, pretas see the same river flowing with an aversive substance; common examples of such visions include pus and filth.

Legendary/Mythical Creature

The Mizuchi (大虬, 蛟龍, 蛟, 美都知) is a type of Japanese dragon or legendary serpent-like creature (Wyrm), either found in an aquatic habitat or otherwise connected to water. Some commentators perceived it to have been a water deity. It is described in the ancient pseudo-chronicle Nihon Shoki and one Man'yōshū poem. Mizuchi is a Japanese dragon and water deity (Wyrm). They are sometimes referred to as rain-controlling snake deities.

Raijū (雷獣, "thunder animal" or "thunder beast") is a legendary creature from Japanese mythology. Its body is composed of lightning, with the form of a white and blue wolf or dog (or even a wolf or dog wrapped in lightning) being the most common. However, it can be represented with other forms such as tanuki, leopard, fox, weasel, marten, tiger, cat, bear, porcupine, tapir, elephant, rat, rabbit, bat, squirrel, boar, deer, badger, mongoose, civet, insectivore, pangolin, monkey, rhinoceros, sea creature (usually a marine mammal such as a dugong, whale, dolphin, porpoise or seal, although it can also take the form of a fish, mollusk or crustacean), insect, arachnid, millipede, centipede, qilin or dragon. It may also fly about as a ball of lightning (in fact, the creature may be an attempt to explain the phenomenon of lightning, such as ball lightning). Its cry sounds like thunder.

  • The lightning power of the Raiju called Seika was powerful enough to make a large hole in the ground. In addition, it seems that there was a considerable amount of damage because it was hit by lightning while it was soaking wet, but I still couldn't defeat Gar Galeos (demon).
  • It's a bit difficult to say whether Raiju is weak or Gal Galeos is too strong.
Uwabami (蟒蛇, Giant Snake/Great Serpent) Uwabami are enormous serpents. Apart from their incredible size, they closely resemble ordinary snakes. They make their homes in the wilderness, far from civilization. Snakes have been a part of Japanese mythology since the earliest times, in part due to their peculiar behaviors. Snakes are symbols of life and death and eternal youth—the shedding and regrowing of their skin was viewed as a magical ability. Because they can slip into the tiniest cracks and penetrate deep, dark places that are inaccessible to humans, they are viewed as tenacious and clever creatures. Because of these traits, snakes have long been considered to be kami or yōkai. During different periods of history, they have been referred to as Orochi, daija, and uwabami, but all of these refer to the same creature.
  • The name Uwabami has roots going back to archaic Japanese. The first part of the name, uwa, meant skillful or superior. Gradually this shifted to a similar-sounding word, uha, which meant great or large. The second part of the name is from an archaic word for snake, hami. This word derives from the word for eating, hamu, which refers both to the snake’s fondness for biting and its ability to eat things that appear much larger than it. So uwabami were “skillful eaters” who over time became “giant snakes.”
Gashadokuro (がしゃどくろ/ 餓者髑髏, literally "starving skeleton", also known as Odokuro) are mythical creatures in Japanese mythology. The Gashadokuro are spirits that take the form of giant skeletons and are fifteen times larger than an average person, said to be created from the ghosts of the people who died in battle and were not buried. Other sources say that it's created from the ghosts of people who died of starvation, or disgraced soldiers. The people's desire for vengeance causes the Gashadokuro to roam after midnight, grabbing lone travelers and biting off their heads to drink their spraying blood. There is a way to know their approach, as the victim would hear the sound of loud ringing caused by the rattling of its teeth. The Gashadokuro is said to possess the powers of invisibility and indestructibility since it is composed of the bones of people who are already deceased, though Shinto charms are said to ward them off. Otherwise, a Gashadokuro will continue hunting its prey until its pent-up anger is released, causing the bones to crumple and the Gashadokuro to collapse.
Shuten-dōji (酒呑童子), is said to have lived on Mt. Oe on the border between Tanba and Tango provinces, or on Oeda (Oi no Saka) on the border between Yamashiro and Tanba provinces (both in Kyoto Prefecture). Demon leader, or bandit leader. His underlings called him by this name because of his fondness for alcohol. On Mt. Oe, where he was based, he lived in a cave palace and had many demons under his command, including Ibaraki-doji. According to legend, Shuten-Doji was eventually overthrown by Minamoto no Yorimitsu and his subordinates Watanabe no Tsuna, who cut off his head with a sword. The sword "Dojigiri" owned by the Tokyo National Museum has a legend of slaying Shuten-doji and is designated as a national treasure and one of the Five Great Swords of Japan. Kawanishi City, Hyogo Prefecture, which is also related to "Genji The sword" Onikirimaru the Yasutsuna inscription owned by Tada Shrine also has a tradition of exterminating Shuten-doji.
Zhen (鴆) also known as Zhenniao, is a name given in many Chinese myths, annals, and poetry to poisonous birds that are said to have existed in what is now southern China. The Classic of Mountains and Seas's fifth chapter, which relates details about the country's central mountains, describes the zhen as resembling an eagle, and lists it as living on Mount Nüji (女幾) in Lianyungang, Jiangsu, as well as on Mount Qingu (琴鼓), Jade Mountain, and Mount Yaobi (瑤碧)—all in southern China. According to Eastern Jin scholar Guo Pu, two different kinds of birds were called zhen: a poisonous, snake-eating bird of prey, and a pheasant-like species—purportedly the one dwelling on Mount Yaobi—which preyed instead on malodorous bugs called 蜚; fěi.

Minor Shikigami
In Japanese folklore, Hitodama (Japanese 人魂; meaning "human soul") are balls of fire that mainly float in the middle of the night. They are said to be "souls of the dead that have separated from their bodies," which is where their name comes from.
Owl (Shikigami), Owls have a reflector called the lucidum in their eyes, which allows them to reuse light that has passed through the retina. While visibility can be secured even on nights, it is said that visibility in bright places is poor because it is difficult to form an image. Since Shikigami function by referencing the specimen determined by the caster, they have abilities that are roughly similar to those of the creature.
Snake/Bat (Shikigami), A shikigami used in complete darkness. You can search for heat sources using the pit organs of copperheads and pythons, and echolocation using ultrasonic waves from bats to explore topography and other organisms. However, since the human brain does not originally have the function to process such information, it is quite difficult to use.
Honeybees (Shikigami), Honeybees can sense changes in the magnetic field with magnetic crystals on their abdomens. It is probably necessary to have a sense of direction to let others know the location of the nectar, and that is why the organ that senses the earth's magnetic field has developed. You can also see ultraviolet rays.
Taka (Shikigami), has six times the eyesight of humans.

Sulfur dioxide, or sulfurous acid gas, produced by burning sulfur, causes intense pain in the eyes, throat, and nose of those exposed to it, and depending on the concentration and time of inhalation, can even cause death. In ancient Greece, sulfur dioxide was used by the Spartan army during the Peloponnesian War and is said to be the oldest chemical weapon in human history. Originally a colorless gas, Seika uses it in the form of white smoke mixed with vapor to make the area of effect easier to distinguish.
《Fire-Wind Phase・Light Fall Technique》 A technique of a huge wave of flame toward the opponent. The wave of burning oil turned the whole area into a sea of fire. It is impossible to escape with a quick transition.
《Fire-Earth-Metal Phase・Shintenko no Jutsu》 A technique that generates intense light by burning magnesium. By removing the charcoal from the ingredients of black gunpowder and adding a large amount of easily combustible metal powder such as magnesium and aluminum, it is possible to create a gunpowder that produces a strong light and sound instead of a violent blast. It has the same principle as a flash grenade, and although it is a technique that aims to neutralize it if it is received at close range, it will take heavy damage from high-temperature combustion gas.
《Sun Phase・Internal Power Technique》 A technique that adds kinetic energy to the target using positive energy. Any vector can be specified regardless of the direction in which the mark is pasted.
《Sun phase・White Flame Technique》 A technique that raises the combustion temperature with the positive air and shoots a flame of 5,000 degrees Celsius. Tungsten is the element with the highest melting point, but it still melts above 3,400°C. Even tantalum hafnium carbide produced by modern technology has a limit of 4,200°C. A temperature of 5,000°C is enough heat to melt all substances in this world and vaporize most of them. Due to the color temperature, the flame glows white (approximately 5,000 Kelvin = the color of a daylight white fluorescent lamp). Originally, the radiant heat would pose a danger to the caster himself and those around him, so this time the hero placed a hitogata with Yin phase techniques around him to absorb the excess heat.
《Sun Phase・Magnetic current cloud technique》 An arrow avoidance technique using Lenz's law. When an arrow penetrates the magnetic field created by the Yang-Qi, a special induced current called eddy current is generated in the metal part of the arrowhead, causing the arrowhead itself to generate a magnetic field. This magnetic field always repels the original magnetic field, so the arrow flies away from the source of the magnetic field. This is known as Lenz's law and is currently used in brake systems for railway vehicles.
《Sun Phase・Thinning Lightning Technique》 A bolt of lightning is produced, started to the opponent's body. The electrocuted worm's body jerked in an elongated position. It convulses several times, then slowly leans back and falls flat on its side to the ground.
《Sun Phase・Lightning technique》 A technique that uses the yang qi to pass an electric current through Hitogata. It's possible to discharge electricity, but you can't control where it flies like a Raiju.
《Earth Phase・Goatee Technique》 The art of cutting objects with basalt fiber threads. Basalt, a type of volcanic rock, is melted and reshaped into fibers, which have superior physical and chemical properties in addition to tensile strength about four times that of steel wire. Volcanic hair, which is similar to this type of hair, is sometimes formed by eruptions in nature and has long been known in Japan as tengu's beard.
《Earth Phase・Penetration Technique》 A technique for creating quartz pillars. Silicon dioxide, the main component, has a melting point of 1,650°C, is chemically stable, and has excellent strength. It is also the most abundant molecule in the earth's crust.
《Earth Phase・Fire Ennit Technique》 A technique to capture the target with a net made of asbestos. The tensile strength of asbestos (chrysotile) is 30,000 kg/m^2. This is more than piano wire, and the strength of a stranded rope is theoretically greater than carbon steel wire. In addition, it has excellent flexibility, chemical resistance, and abrasion resistance, and when it comes to heat resistance, it boasts a decomposition temperature of 450-700°C, far exceeding that of piano wire, and a melting point of 1,521°C.
《Earth-Metal Phase・Glass Mirror Technique》 A technique to create mirrors by plating silver on glass. Even in the world under construction, mirror-making technology like the silver mirror reaction had not yet been born in the era before Seika's reincarnation. However, it was known that a highly efficient reflector could be made by coating a glass plate with a thin layer of metal, and although there were only a few, one-of-a-kind items made by magicians and alchemists were in circulation.
《Earth Phase・Kaname Stone Technique》 A technique that rains down a huge monolith wrapped in shimenawa. Variable in size. It contains the power of exorcism and prevents the lives it kills from turning into vengeful spirits.
《Earth Phase・Rock Throw Technique》 A technique that shoots out huge rocks with a diameter of over 10 meters. Variable in size. For destroying buildings and terrain.
《Earth Phase・Emerald Pillar Technique》 The art of making stairs with beryl. As the name suggests, it forms columnar crystals, so it is easy to create a stepped shape. Pure beryl is almost transparent, but Seika mixes impurities such as iron, chromium, and vanadium to adjust the color to a color close to that of emerald, mainly due to the problem of visibility.
《Earth-Water Phase・White Moon Tower Technique》 A technique for creating gypsum pillars. When water is added to calcium sulfate hemihydrate (gypsum hemihydrate), it solidifies quickly to form the commonly known white, hard blocky gypsum. The ones produced by the technique approach 20 meters in length, but even in their natural state, giant crystals exceeding 10 meters have been confirmed.
《Earth & Metal Phase・Metallic Creation》 A method of breaking rocks by growing pyrite crystals with iron from gold and sulfur from soil. Pyrite, also known as "fool's gold," is a golden mineral that exhibits hexahedral, octahedral, and dodecahedral crystal forms. Its existence seems to have been known at least around the 1st century AD, and it was described in Pliny the Elder's "Natural History" as a stone that produces sparks when struck.
《Mud Phase・Compound Earth Technique (Mix Concrete)》 A technique to harden the opponent with a large amount of ready-mixed concrete. The base is so-called ancient concrete, which is mainly composed of silicic acid polymers, but the ingredients are adjusted to speed up the hardening. Ancient concrete technology, which flourished in ancient Rome, was actually lost with the fall of the Roman Empire.
《Water phase・Waterfall Technique》 A technique that creates a large amount of water with water energy.
《Golden-Water Phase・Ashen/Ashen Bloom technique》 A technique that mixes metallic sodium created with the energy of gold and water to create an explosion. Alkali metals such as sodium have the property of reacting violently with water. The explosive flame is dyed yellow due to the flame reaction of sodium. The splashed water becomes a strong alkaline aqueous solution and dissolves the flesh. The origin of the technical name is that Alkali originally means plant ash in Arabic.
《Wood Phase・Wax bubbles Technique》 A method of fixing with rosin glue. Turpentine, one of the main components, evaporates, solidifying the rosin resin and exerting an adhesive effect.
《Wood Phase・Spike Ram Technique》 The technique of driving out a stake of plain wood. White wood for exterminating vampires includes ash, juniper, hawthorn, and poplar, but Seika chose ash because it grows naturally in Japan and was familiar to her, and because it was used as a building material and looked sturdy. . Seika visited Eastern Europe in her previous life long before the birth of Prince Dracula, but since that time there have been many legends about vampires in Europe, including Strigoi and Kudrak.
《Wood Phase・Vine Binding Technique》 A technique that restrains the opponent with a huge vine plant created with the spirit of the tree. The mechanism by which the vine wraps around an object is called thigmotropism and occurs when the stem is touched by something and the cells on the opposite side grow rapidly. Lignification is the accumulation of lignin in the cell walls, making the tissue very hard. It is a phenomenon that can be seen in the epidermis of trees and bamboo, and among vines, wisteria, and Akebi correspond to it.
  • A technique that restrains the opponent with heavy vines containing high concentrations of mercury. Plant groups called hyperaccumulators have the property of actively accumulating heavy metals taken from the ground. Rice and willows are familiar to us, but Pycnandra acuminata, which lives in New Caledonia, is known to shed a blue-green sap containing as much as 25% nickel. If one-fourth of the water content of ordinary trees is replaced with mercury, which has a higher specific gravity, a super-heavyweight plant with the same volume but nearly three times the mass can be produced.
《Wood-Fire-Earth Phase・Shintenka Technique》 A technique that shoots bullets with black powder. A mixture of 75% saltpeter, 15% charcoal, and 10% sulfur produces a highly explosive powder. It is said that this black gunpowder was invented in the Tang dynasty in China around the 6th century, but its existence was not known in Japan until the Kamakura period, and Seika became familiar with it after moving to the Song dynasty.
《Wood, Fire, Earth & Metal Phase・Tremor Fire Technique》 A technique that generates directional explosions. When a flat, thinly spread explosive, the blast, which should normally spread evenly in all directions, is small in the front, rear, left, and right directions and strong in the vertical direction. At this time, if one side is covered with a substance with high specific gravity, most of the energy of the explosion has the property of being emitted toward the other side. This is called the Misnay-Shardin effect and is currently used in claymore mines and self-forging bullets.
《Wood-Fire-Earth Phase・Poison Fire Technique》 A technique that puts pyrethroids, the poison of pyrethrum, on phosphorus flames. It is of low toxicity to mammals and birds, but potent against insects, amphibians, and reptiles. It is also an active ingredient in mosquito coils. Pyrethrum originated in Serbia, which was part of the Eastern Roman Empire when the protagonist visited in the 11th century.
《Gold Phase・Connection Technique》 A technique to harden the opponent by amalgam. When metal powders such as silver, copper, zinc, and tin are mixed with liquid metal such as mercury, it forms an alloy and hardens in a short time. Originally a technique for restraints and building repairs, this time Seika hardened the liquid metal contained in the enemy's body by mixing an excessive amount of metal powder.
《Gold Phase・GoldFish Technique》 A technique that embrittles metal with gallium. Gallium is a liquid metal with a melting point of only about 30°C and has the property of corroding the inside of the crystals of other metals, causing them to crumble. It was discovered in modern times, but in the world of work, an alchemist from the Kingdom of Franks (now France) isolated it from minerals found near the Pyrenees Mountains and named it gallium after the Gallia region where it was produced.
《Gold Phase・Chisel Technique》 A technique to form a cage with tungsten. It is very heavy and hard among metals. It was discovered in modern times, but in the world of work, alchemists from Northern Europe were separated, and in Japan, the ore was mined under the name of Taigane.
《Gold Phase・Iron Arrow Technique》 A technique that spins and shoots a conical iron stake with a spiral drawn on it. High straightness due to the gyro effect.
《Gold Phase・Acupuncture Technique》 This technique produces a large number of huge conical spines made of steel. It is not very accurate in aiming and is mainly used against enemies who are crowded together.
《Gold Phase・Light Heaven Flower Technique》 A technique that creates an enriched uranium lump and generates a nuclear explosion. Natural uranium contains 0.7% of uranium-235, which is a fissile material. When 30 kilograms of highly enriched uranium lumps are produced by raising this to 95%, the spontaneous nuclear fission of uranium-238, which contains 5%, causes a spontaneous nuclear fission chain reaction. The tremendous energy released along with this causes a large explosion equivalent to 16 kilotons in terms of TNT. The above-ground nuclear explosion, will cause serious radioactive contamination in the surrounding area, so it is necessary to restore the radioactive substance by dispelling it later. Uranium is an element that was discovered in modern times, but it has been used as a coloring agent for glass since ancient times and was isolated by an ancient Roman alchemist in the world of work. The name uranium in the work was named after Uranus, the god of the sky in Greek mythology because when the ore is held up to a clear morning sky, it glows green in response to ultraviolet rays.
  • Mantra: ओम्धातु स्वाहा
《Gold phase・Exploding Nail Technique》 A technique that fires a spear of magnesium. Magnesium burns on its own and easily dissolves in acids, even hot water, producing hydrogen. It was discovered in modern times, but in the world of work, an ancient Greek alchemist separated it from a mineral called talc.
《Yin Phase・Art of Ice Tree Technique》 A technique that steals and freezes the target's heat with a Yin-Qi.
《Yang Phase・Falling Leaves Technique》 A technique that reduces the weight of the target. Opposite of Falling Fruit. Among the elements that determine the so-called "weight", gravitational acceleration and gravitational mass, otherworldly magic selects one and affects it, while 《Falling Fruit》 and 《Floating Leaves》 can only increase or decrease the latter. Since gravitational mass is linked to inertial mass by the equivalence principle, handling, and power will change when used against weapons.
《Yang-Water Phase・Hot Water Technique》 A technique that releases a large amount of hot water. Originally for the defense of bases in high places. That produces morphine a type of alkaloid produced by poppies, it has an analgesic effect, but ingesting a large amount can lead to delirium, unconsciousness, coma, and even death within minutes at the earliest. Although it was discovered in the early modern period, the Arabian herbalist was separated in the 8th century in the world of the work.
《Yang-Wood-Fire Phase・Lantern Waterfall Technique》 A technique in which vegetable oil heated to a high temperature is ignited and released. The kerosene used in the 11th century was mainly olive oil in Europe and perilla oil obtained from perilla sesame seeds in Japan. In addition, the flash point of general vegetable oil is around 300 degrees, and it will not catch fire unless it is heated to that point in advance.
《Yang & Water Phase・Ice Waterfall Technique》 A technique that freezes the target by releasing a large amount of water (tsunami) that has been supercooled by Yin-Qi. Yin-Qi controls negative energy. Supercooled water has the property of freezing rapidly upon impact. The temperature of the water is about minus 40 degrees, which is the critical temperature for supercooling. Theoretically, it can be cooled further while still in liquid form, but in that case, it becomes a state similar to glass called amorphous ice, and in the end, it is difficult to use, so Seika keeps it at this level.
《Yang Phase・Falling Fruit Technique》 A technique that increases the weight of the target and crushes it. Yang-Qi of the user controls positive energy.

《Protection phase/Enforced Exorcisim・ Demonic Imprisonment/Void Transfer》 A technique that human rattle of the door will appear and the body will be sucked into the distortion of space. In anime, a white shoji will appear and be sucked into the distortion of space.
  • Mantra: ओम् दश सप्त षोडश त्रीणि अष्ट एकम् निक्षेप सकल स्वाहा
Unnamed Technique A technique that uses yang qi to generate a strong magnetic field around Hitogata. Originally, it was an arrow avoidance technique that used Lenz's law, but this time Seika used it instead of a beacon to identify the position from the ground.
Kakutetsu no Jutsu (Unnamed) A technique that showers waves of boiling iron. The temperature is about 2,800℃. When the human body is wrapped in this, the water in the whole body instantly boils and evaporates, causing a small steam explosion. It is believed that after the body explodes, the remaining organic matter begins to burn. The high temperature of the molten iron melts even bones, but it is not enough to sublimate the carbon, so part of the carbonized corpse remains.
《Reincarnation Curse Technique》 A technique that restored to its previous form moment by moment. This technique creates a space distorted that becomes night a line of magical power, and a three-dimensional magic circle until it completes and releases a wind that arranges every form of object that destroys walls, gardens even people who lost lives. In the Anime version this technique released all the Hitodama that was created by Seika. By ordering and casting the mantra the Hitodama will swirl the surrounding creating a Prisma light wall that restored all previous form moment by every moment.

Ryōsuke Shibuya Ryōsuke Shibuya January 7, 2023
The very strongest exorcist in the world is murdered by jealous members of the Imperial court but casts a spell of rebirth to have a second chance at a better life. He awakens in an alternate world as Seika, son of the noble Blaise Lamprogue, but cannot use this worlds magic. However, Seika has retained his exorcist powers and demon servants but hides this from his family as he hopes to cultivate a happier life by becoming more cunning than his previous life. His brother Grey bullies him as Seika was born from Blaise’s mistress; his other brother Luft is kinder but his only friend is the family’s slave Efa.
After learning about the Lodonea Magic Academy Seika uses his power over the six elements (Water, Fire, Earth, Air, Light and Shadow) to simulate magical power, so Blaise lets him study magic. Seika discovers Efa can use magic by commanding the spirits of nature, so he trains her in secret. An Elder Newt attacks a nearby city and rampages all the way to their mansion. In front of dozens of witnesses Grey hides like a coward but Seika kills the monster with a poison curse disguised as fire magic.

Blaise offers Seika a reward so he asks to attend Lodonea with Efa. Grey protests that he was supposed to attend Lodonea. Blaise decides Grey will instead enlist in the army. Luft is proud of Seika and gives him a pen as a leaving gift. Grey challenges Seika for the place at Lodonia but is easily defeated. Seika is revealed to have cunningly arranged this outcome by sending a demon servant to provoke the Newt to attack.
As Seika and Efa depart for the academy Blaise recalls Seika isn’t actually his son but his nephew, son of his brother Gilbert who disappeared in demon territory. Blaise has long suspected Seika’s mother was a demoness, meaning Seika has potential to become the next Demon King, though he hopes Lodonea will be the right environment to prevent this. With Seika now her owner Efa expects to join him in bed but he shows no interest. At the entrance exam Seika encounters Amu, a commoner girl with powerful magical abilities. Seika is surprised as Amu is identical to his apprentice from his previous life who was pressured by the Imperial Court into killing him.

At the practical exam Efa and Seika outperform everyone except Amu who scores highest with all four elements, plus light and dark magic, causing her instructors to suspect she is the next Hero. Efa is disappointed she is expected to live in the girls dormitory and won’t be allowed to serve Seika or enter the boys dormitory. Seika notices a dark magic circle on academy grounds and leaves several talismans to keep an eye on it. During opening ceremony the circle summons three lesser demons to attack the academy. Seika slips away to confront the circles creator, a devil named Galios.
Free of witnesses Seika is able to freely use his exorcist powers and manipulates Galios into revealing he is trying to kill the Hero. Seika easily defeats Galios then feeds him alive to his demon servant, Mizuchi the Dragon. Seika finds that due to not having all his old strength Mizuchi actually tries to kill him before being sealed away again. Amu kills the lesser demons but this only causes people to regard her with fear and mistrust. Seika is pleased by this, hoping that by becoming the Hero’s friend he will stand out less compared to her and attract fewer enemies.

Despite Seika’s efforts Amu has no interest in being friends. Seika and Efa narrowly avoid being doused in demon blood by clumsy teacher Cordell. Amu and Seika trip a magic circle trap and are transported into a nearby dungeon. Amu is knocked unconscious by trolls, allowing Seika to freely summon demon servant Giant Centipede to kill them. Awakening Amu is grateful for the help but reveals she has a headache. Seika identifies this as a potentially fatal curse which he transfers onto one of his talismans, saving Amu’s life. Grateful, Amu is shown to have a lewd sense of humour and a passion for fighting that most people find disturbing, though Seika assures her all passions have uses.
After defeating the dungeon boss they loot a mithril sword for Amu and a magic ring. After returning to the academy Seika secretly confronts Cordell, revealed to be a devil’s servant sent to assassinate Amu with a demon blood curse. Seika uses the substitute Amu talisman to reflect Amu’s curse back on Cordell, killing him. Seika gives the dungeon ring to Efa, confirming it increases her control over spirits. Amu returns to treating Seika coldly, becoming friends with Efa instead.

A whole year later Seika, Amu and Efa are best friends and there have been no further attempts to assassinate Amu. The academy Principal asks Seika to participate in a combat tournament in Capital City, along with new student Mabel Crane. Amu is upset she wasn’t chosen but Principal insists on Seika and Mabel due to an ulterior motive. Mabel later provokes Amu and defeats her in a sword duel, humiliating her. She also warns Seika the tournament is real combat so participants frequently die.
Arriving in Capital City Seika has his first match and defeats mercenary swordsman Dennis with a talisman disguised as wind magic. Joining Efa and Amu in the audience Seika watches a match between Bellen, student from another academy, and Kyle, a bodyguard from the Rugroc Merchants Association. The audience is horrified as Kyle mercilessly kills Bellen, who makes no attempt to defend himself. With his expertise in curses Seika realises Bellen had actually been paralysed by Kyle’s cursed Evil Eye, making the killing even worse as the paralysis by itself was enough to win the match. Seika suspects Kyle may be a Merchant’s assassin.

After Mabel wins her first match Seika is intrigued when the audience refer to Mabel as the Hero. That night Seika captures a demon’s human spy and interrogates him with his psychic demon servant, Satori, learning he was sent to spy on Mabel whom the demons also believe to be the Hero from her birth date and red hair. After letting Satori eat the spy alive Seika is left confused; Amu is undoubtedly the Hero so he suspects Mabel is at the centre of a conspiracy to make her appear to be the Hero, attracting the demons attention away from Amu.
Kyle wins his next match with another merciless killing. The young knight Reinas becomes popular with the audience. Mabel warns Seika she absolutely must win the tournament so he must forfeit or she will have to kill him in the semi-finals. Kyle almost kills Reinas but is stopped by the judges who declare Kyle the winner just in time. Seika notices Kyle uses gravity magic just like Mabel. That night Mabel attacks Seika in his room and flees after failing to kill him. Intrigued, Seika chases her.

Tomari Kōki Tomari Kōki February 18, 2023
Seika deduces Mabel was just trying to injure him enough he forfeited the tournament. Mabel confirms she and Kyle are slave soldiers from the Merchants who ordered Mabel to let Kyle kill her, letting the demons believe the Hero had died while also demonstrating Kyle’s value. During his training his brain was engraved with magic to make him a perfect soldier and if he kills the Hero he will prove his value. Seika deduces Mabel is Kyle’s sister, having dyed her hair to pose as the Hero, and she actually intends to kill Kyle to end his suffering.
Deciding he can’t let Mabel kill her own brother Seika defeats Mabel in their match then afterwards defeats Kyle who asks Seika for Mabel’s forgiveness, but a curse from the Merchants kills Kyle for his failure. After Kyle’s funeral Seika convinces Mabel to attend the academy as a real student. Seika congratulates the Principal for her scheme, knowing Seika would win thus depriving the merchants of Kyle and gaining Mabel as a powerful student. Mabel returns to her original silver hair but is horrified by Seika and Efa’s sadistic tutoring to make up for being a whole year behind her classmates.

Seika is asked to investigate the strange behaviour of Astelia Kingdom’s guardian dragon, which has protected Astelia since a past queen helped raise it. Astelia’s prince Cecilio, who is rather airheaded, is entranced by Efa and invites her to join his kingdom’s harem. Seika decides to let Efa choose on her own since joining a royal harem is a rare honour. Arriving in Astelia the dragon attacks their carriage but is driven away by Zecht, an arrogant mage mercenary Cecilio hired. Seika scolds Efa for freezing during the attack when she is capable of defending herself.
After investigating Astelia’s royal library Seika learns the dragon became violent once before when he and his wife had a baby, which doesn’t explain his current violence since his wife died decades ago. That night Cecilio summons Efa to his room but she refuses and sleeps in Seika’s bed, too scared to be alone. She feels worse when Seika reminds her the harem might be good for her future, even though she is clearly in love with Seika. Cecilio resorts to offering to buy Efa as she is technically a slave, but Seika refuses. Seika decides to visit the dragons nest himself.

Cecilio’s elf attendant, Lize, reveals to Efa she must have an elf ancestor to use spirit magic. Seika finds the dragon is violent due to having an egg; having become female after his wife’s death. Lize shows Efa the harem is actually a university for young ladies. One may become queen one day but most become government officials. The dragon lets Seika help care for the egg. Efa decides to remain with Seika but Cecilio tries to force Efa to sign all the legal papers, assuming he can just pay Seika for her later. Seika suddenly appears with the dragon and rescues her. Efa helps Seika capture Zecht who tried to steal the egg to sell it.
Cecilio decides to have the dragon killed anyway, hoping such a bold decision will strengthen his chance of becoming king. Fed up of Cecilio’s idiocy Seika thoroughly scolds him over his treatment of Efa. Lize actually agrees and apologises to Seika and Efa. Cecilio is ashamed and lets the dragon live. Lize gifts Efa several Light spirits that provide healing magic. They return to the academy but elsewhere a team of five powerful demons set out to finally kill the Hero.

Shigeki Awai Tomari Kōki March 11, 2023
Seika’s father asks to meet Amu. Seika is certain politics is involved. Grey reveals he loves it in the army but still demands a rematch with Seika. Amu duels Grey instead but Grey wins by a trick. Grey introduces Fiona, the Kingdom’s Holy Princess. Seika is again worried about politics as Fiona is the daughter of the Emperor and his mistress the Oracle Priestess. Seika realizes Fiona resembles his wife from his past life. Seika is actually surprised his stepmother, who ignored him all his life, asks him to stay in touch.

Seika advises Amyu to submit to imprisonment temporarily. Principal confirms politicians likely want the hero gone. Seika invades the Imperial prison, slaughters the soldiers and finds Amyu. Amyu naively believes her innocence would be proven so Seika reveals to her she is the hero, so her innocence is irrelevant as her enemies will kill her regardless. Grey and Fiona appear and admit to plotting Amyu’s death. Humans and demons are currently in a stalemate so the existence of a hero could restart the war so it is better for Amyu to die. However, due to Seika protecting her Amyu has not yet had to unlock her Hero abilities, so Fiona offers to return them to the academy. Seika realises this was what Fiona had cleverly planned all along and never intended Amyu to be killed, so he decides they will leave the academy and go far away instead. Amyu regrets not returning to the academy but looks forward to starting their careers as adventurers. Fiona talks with an entity hiding in her shadow, revealing she knows Seika is the demon king and will give his life to protect the hero. She also arranges for Yifa and Mabel to join Seika and Amyu and begin adventuring as a team.
