Character[]
He is the protagonist of this work. He lives happily with his wife and children in the modern world, but his wife, whom he trusted, has not only cheated on him and divorced him, but the child is not his own. He is forced to take responsibility for the divorce and his wife's debts, is fired from his job, and faces a miserable end, eating and drinking while paying alimony to his wife and working part-time to support his child, even though the child is not his own. Just before that, he is reincarnated as a lord of an interstellar nation at the invitation of his "guide. At the time of his rebirth, he regrets having lived his life as an honest man and decides to become a corrupt lord. After his rebirth, he becomes the eldest son of a count of the Algrand Empire and is given the title of count at the beginning of his reincarnation. He has black hair and purple eyes. Through a political marriage from the Count to the Duke, he takes the title of the next Duke Rosetta, and becomes a Duke. He is a general in the Imperial Army in the reserves. His swordsmanship is Issen-ryu. He is a licensed master swordsman. He is the strongest knight in the world in actual combat. His favorite machine is Avid.
He was abandoned by his mother and father immediately after his reincarnation, and his count's estate is in ruins due to the neglect of his long-time lord, he is deeply in debt and desperate need of help. Liam, a vicious lord, decided he could no longer exploit his people, so he reformed his vassals and army to make Banfield rich and Banfield's army strong. During his reforms, Liam takes a harsh attitude toward his rebellious vassals, including slaughtering them, but at the same time, he treats his capable vassals with respect. Although he admits to being a corrupt lord, his honesty, earnestness, and lack of love for luxury before his reincarnation have made him a benevolent lord who cares for his people, and he thinks his people are crazy for treating him as such. He also inherited his sense of money from his previous life, so even if he thinks he is extravagant, he appears frugal to those around him. He also plans to create a harem of beautiful women. Still, since he carefully selects their appearance when they work for him, and since he is unable to keep up with the extreme aesthetic sensibilities and cultures that have spread throughout the universe, he is considered a stoic person by those outside his immediate circle. He prefers gold, but in the world of his works, mithril and other magical materials are more valuable, and he is seen by those around him as a covetous person.
He is so pleased with the large sums of money he made in his first battle with the Goa'uld pirates that he has earned the nickname "The Pirate Slayer" for his efforts to hunt pirates. He has earned the nickname "The Pirate Killer." He has earned the enmity of many noblemen who have joined him in the fight against the pirates. On the other hand, he is also supported by the nobles of good sense, such as becoming Prince Wallace's patron and saving the Dukes of Claudia, which had been a problem for the empire for 2,000 years. However, all of his good deeds that set an example for the nobility are done without his awareness, and his reputation does not match that of those around him. He is very protective of his android, Amagi, and if you call him a puppet, he will be physically beheaded.

Abilities[]
"Good ending of Nice Guy?.. That's Bullshit!
I'm not going to be that nice guy again! Rather, I want to trample all over others.
I want to be EVIL!! "― Liam Sera Banfield
He's the best mecha pilot, strategist, soldier, official, and martial talent the empire's seen, at least since his great-grandfather was alive, and some say he's even better than that guy. He likes being challenged, both physically and mentally. This drove Yasushi crazy because he'd keep ramping up the difficulty of the "training" regiment, hoping to be fired before his con was exposed, but instead honed Liam into an unrivaled martial powerhouse. At this point, Yasushi declares him "fully trained" so he can escape before Liam realizes he's been had. Liam has mastered magic in his body to utilize and strengthen the weapon.
- The Way of the Flash (一閃流, Issen Ryuu): This style was "taught" to him by Yasushi over many years. The drawback of this style is that he can only kill his enemies and can't hold back. Yasushi is a con man and uses a parlor trick with a precut log to make it look like he used an Iai Sword Beam "secret technique" as part of his pitch to be Liam's swordsman trainer. Liam sees it once and is within days able to puzzle out a way to make the technique real to Yasushi's shock. A technique Liam then "perfects" by using it to execute some murderously corrupt bureaucrats in his territory.
- Flash/One Flash Sword: After overcoming his limits and succeeding in meeting his potential. Liam is now able to use the Way of the Flash without actually unsheathing his sword. This is the last and most powerful form of the Way of the Flash. Once he wielded his samurai or any type of weapon, he could slice them apart in an instant. In one flash, every target will get destroyed without touching them.
He manages to combine this with Pragmatic Hero. Although he believes otherwise, his top priority is protecting the innocent, especially his friends and followers, and smiting the guilty, his well-being a secondary priority. He believes Yasushi is a Master Swordsman Badass Teacher because the latter looks cool and shows off a "secret technique" that is a parlor trick. Yasushi's bullshit "training regimen" wound up making him the best mecha pilot, strategist, and swordsman in the empire!.
While he lets his subordinates deal with the fine details, he's the one who lays out the long-term plans in his household. His overall governance philosophy is that you can't wring water from a dry cloth, so he improves the quality of life for his subjects so that they make more money and can pay more taxes. He genuinely doesn't care about their well-being except maybe in the sense that they're his 'property' but because he thinks a little more long-term than most other nobles, he has an excellent reputation.
Black Katana |
This is the sword he got when he destroyed the Goaz's pirates. Liam likes it because it is very sharp and comfortable in his hand. It seems to be made of some kind of special material or manufacturing process and is so effective that "opponents ineffective against physical attacks," such as guides and demon kings, are terrified of it. |
Alchemy Box |
An artifact from an ancient magic country. A tool that is capable of turning any non-living object into pure gold. |
"Let me tell you something good, — Pirates are my walking Piggy Banks!"
― Liam Sera Banfield
His assessment of people's motives and character may be off, but his assessment of their methods is spot on and has an uncanny instinct that allows him to gather to himself the best and brightest people. Even conmen who look to rip him off wind up helping him immensely, despite their intentions. By the standards of the empire, he's a just but merciless man who destroys any corruption or evil he uncovers, even when it would put himself in political or even physical danger.

A humanoid mobile weapon that moves in sync with its pilot using magical power. Both knights and ordinary soldiers can ride on it. A knight riding a mobile knight surpasses the performance of an ordinary soldier. They can attack not only with conventional weapons but also with magic.
