Maougun Saikyou no Majutsushi wa Ninge (魔王軍最強の魔術師は人間だった, "The Strongest Magician in the Demon Lord's Army was a Human") is a Japanese light novel series written by Ryousuke Hata and illustrated by Kuma. It began serialization online in February 2016 on the user-generated novel publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō. It was later acquired by Futabasha, who published five volumes from September 2016 to April 2018 under their Monster Bunko imprint. A manga adaptation with art by Anajiro has been serialized online via Futabasha's Gaugau Monster website since July 2019 and has been collected in nine tankōbon volumes. An anime television series adaptation produced by Studio A-Cat aired from July to September 2024.
Synopsis[]
The humans are currently at war with the Demon Lord Army. The most notable of the army's elite is Ike, the commanding magician of the Immortal Brigade. Hailed as the Demon Lord Army's Confidante, Ike however has a secret to be kept from the demons around him, he is actually a human, a regular human reincarnated from Japan!

Character[]
The protagonist of this series, a Normal Japanese citizen who was reincarnated into the world and he is the leader of the Immortal Brigade. He belongs to the 7th Legion of the Demon King's Army → 8th and 3rd Legion Commander of the Demon King's Army. He was picked up by the great magician Ronberg, and has inherited knowledge and magic from him. He wears a mask and robe to hide his human identity, and fights to avoid killing humans as much as possible.
Clearing away enemies with immense magic, I am without a doubt a monster awed by friend and foe. However, I have a secret he can’t tell other demons "I, actually I'm human you know." Using modern knowledge to keep his secret, he became treated as a great commander and the driving force of the Demon Kings army.

Ike is capable of using Mana Controlling and mastering any form of magic due to his Adoptive Grandfather Romberg, who is a demon mage in the demon country. Even a Chantless Magician even capable of Superior Military Tactics giving foresight has the power equivalent to making troops as determined as soldiers who know they are going to die, thus they will fight unto their deaths until their lives are exhausted.

As he was given the weapon (Matchlock Muskets) by the demon lord Dairokuten, Ike utilized and mass-produced the matchlock muskets from Gunthor the dwarf, Ike used this as a counter and last resort weapon for the fight, he knew that the speed of the matchlock muskets can inflict damage to the opponent without noticing it because of the speed. Ike uses his magic gravity manipulation (Telekinesis) to able to control the matchlock muskets from focus aiming and loading bullets.

TV Anime[]
An anime television series adaptation was announced in January 2024. The series is produced by Studio A-Cat and directed by Norihiko Nagahama, with Touko Machida writing series scripts, Masami Sueoka designing the characters, and Kohta Yamamoto composing the music. It premiered on July 3, 2024, on Tokyo MX and BS Asahi. All theme songs are performed by Kohta Yamamoto, with the opening theme song "Ctrl C" featuring Shun Ikegai, and the ending theme song "I Still" featuring Maya Akechi. Crunchyroll licensed the series.
