Synopsis[]

Okamura Hiiro is introverted and loves books. To him, books are his raison d'etre. His story starts with the usual gimmick of the summoning of heroes. Five people are summoned, but one of them is just an outsider dragged in accidentally, that person is Hiiro. The four others are his classmates, but it's not like they are friends. Unlike him, they are riajuus. Hiiro decided not to help the country, his reason?

"I don't believe you. I'm not friends with them. It's not my business, and I'm an ordinary person who cares for my own life, so bye," and he sets for his own journey. Little do others know, that this ordinary person, Hiiro, actually hides a power that could change the world!

  • Human World / Beast World (Volume 1-Volume 7)
    • Hiiro, who met Arnold Ocean and Muir Castreia in the Torchu Mountains, started working together after defeating Barbarus Bear. On her adventure, when she reaches the Rogi Mountains, she finds Winkaa Jio, who has fallen from dehydration, and cares for her, so she joins her party. After that, she sometimes borrowed Ride Peak, but basically proceeded with the adventure with these four people, and when she arrived in Rintenbu, she also registered for the party.
  • Makai Hen (Volume 8-Volume 11)
    • Arriving at the Beast Kingdom, Pasion, Hiiro leaves the previous party. He reunites with Ridepeak, who he once broke up with, and continues his adventure into the demon world. If you help the fallen Silva Plutis in the Gloomy Meadow, you will have an adventure together with Silva accompanying Hiiro. Silva, a butler, heads with Hiiro to collect golden roses, which was requested by Lilyn li Rasis Red Rose, who serves him. Silva returns to the mansion after getting the golden rose he wanted. So he invites Hiiro to the mansion to treat him. Of course, Hiiro, who has an eye for food, heads to the mansion and meets Lilyn. Lilyn is attracted to the strength of Hiiro's unique magic and invites her to go on an adventure with him. Although they are half-forced, they also have mutual ambitions, and together with Hiiro, Lilyn, Silva, and Lilyn's mansion maid Shamoe Arnir, they set off on a journey to the demon world. While continuing their journey, Hiiro and his friends visit Bamboo Hill. There, they meet Nikki, a human raised by monsters. Join. For Nikki, who can't speak words, he changed Ride Peak's Mikazuki into a human figure with the character magic "Humanization" because "the language will improve faster if there is a competitor". In other words, at this point, Hiiro's party consists of six people: Hiiro, Lilyn, Silva, Chamoe, Nikki, and Mikazuki.
  • Makai Taisen (Volume 12 -)
    • Hiiro steadily raises his level through repeated battles against strong monsters in the demon world. He arrives in the demonic country of Haos. At a shop that happened to drop by there, he meets the demon king Gran Eveam Early Evening. Eveam is also attracted to Hiiro's letter magic, and asks Hiiro to defend the demonic country Haos, whose fighting strength will be weak during the Human-Demon Alliance conclusion conference that will be held earlier. Hiiro accepts this request in exchange for the issuance of a seismic intensity 5 immigration permit from the Fortuna Grand Library. And on the day of the Human-Demon Alliance conclusion meeting, due to the betrayal of demons, humans, and beastmen, humans, demons, and beastkins intertwine in the demon world and fight.

Character[]

Hiiro Okamura (A.k.a. Taro Tanaka). Hiiro grew up in an orphanage. His parents didn’t leave him, they died in an accident when he was still young. Then he was handed over to an orphanage. He made some friends there, but more than that, he loved books, so he read nothing but books all day. The books were more a friend to him than humans. He got caught up and reincarnated in Idea. His magic is non-attribute. He is a unique magician and a "Word magic" user. He says that his abilities are often cheated.

The principle of action is thorough self-supremacy. Ignore those in need without any hesitation if it doesn't benefit them. He's not a violent person, so he doesn't actively get involved. On the other hand, since he has no prejudice and treats him with a neutral attitude, many people, including Muir, like his honesty. The object of his interest is always "books" or "food". He reads various books from different worlds enjoys unique meals, and travels the world just for that. In other words, Arnold and the others see that if they are interested in these two things, they can get his cooperation. Hiiro is one of the 5 people from Earth who were transported to Edea by the First Princess Lilith.

Hiiro rarely if ever calls anyone by their name, usually making up a nickname based on either some Iconic Item they are wearing or some personality type of theirs.

Hiiro not wanting to help two of the heroes who are hiding from monster forces may seem cruel, he legitimately has no reason to help them, especially since they did not bother learning more about the world themselves. When one of them tried guilt tripping him into helping them, even calling him cold towards them, Hiiro threw this back at her when he left the group and not a single of one them tried persuading him to stop, showing that she was only saying this now out of convenience and that they never had any relation whatsoever. The two were forced to concede the point that all of the problems they faced were their fault alone since they did not bother learning anything about the world outside the blatant lies of the human king.

Personality
  • He is extremely smart and logical, but he only cares for himself, and only does things if offered a reward, or if it would benefit him in some way, even when an innocent person's life is on the line. Hiiro doesn't care about the different races and is one of the few people (if not the only person) who doesn't discriminate between them. He also has a great love of books, as well as the food that is in Edea.
  • Hiiro might be aloof and uncaring to anything that doesn't directly involve him, but he will help out if he is given something, even if it's just food.
  • Hiiro will often justify his helpful actions as something to this trope.
  • Despite being a person who never acts unless there is profit in it for himself, Hiiro has surprisingly pulled off quite a few numbers of those. Of course, he always has an ulterior motive before doing so.
  • For Hiiro, disturbing his peaceful naps/reading times, anyone who tries to control him, and especially someone who doesn't want to pay up on their end of an agreement. It's downplayed though as he doesn't go as berserk as the trope exemplifies.

Abilities[]

"I will distort that common sense!"

Hiiro

His magical ability is to use the characters he draws as a medium to manifest any phenomenon with corrections based on Hiiro's imagination. Its coercive power completely ignores the rules of the other world. At first, it was a substitute that consumed a lot of MP just by activating only one character against the nearest. Still, as the level improved, it became possible to activate multiple characters at the same time and fly far away.

Due to coming from a world where stuff like adventuring and defeating monsters were commonly seen in games and books, Hiiro (along with the four heroes) is/are far more prepared and resourceful enough than the residents of Edea should be when it comes to understanding how to be adventurer.

Level 1 Despite Word magic's versatility, there are certain limitations that Hirro cannot overcome, as shown when he can't revive something already dead.
Nevertheless, Hiiro decided it was good if he couldn’t because he felt if life could be revived easily by magic, then it would only degrade the true value of life itself.

Since it is invoked using "Japanese", which can encompass countless meanings with just numbers, even a single character is highly versatile. In addition, since the amount of MP consumed depends on the number of characters and how it is activated, such as distance, you can easily recover from fatal injuries and even perform high-power attacks if you have the appropriate words. As a secondary element, Japanese is an unknown language in the other world, and it is difficult to understand what you are trying to activate, so it is highly likely to be killed for the first time.

Magic Details
Word Magic】, allows him to draw words with his fingers and bring forth the power of the word’s meaning; e.g. Flame, which bursts the vicinity of the written word’s location into flames. It is a unique magic that Hiiro was granted due to having no magical attribute and was considered a cheat. Like all unique magic, it is very strong and hard to control.
  • The representative magic is "Flame", "Speed", "Gen", "Strength", "Peeping", "Healing", "Explosive Flame", "Freezing", "Desertification", "Space Cleansing", "Courage, High Speed, Strong", "Monster, Suction, Large Explosion, Large Explosion". Big Explosion"
Single-Word Chain」 One word can be used to cast a spell.
  • MP Cost: 30
「Air Writing」 Able to write words into the air with magic power. Activates by coming in contact with the target. It is also possible to shoot the written word and let it activate then, though it only flies straight like an arrow.
  • MP cost: 100
「Parallel Writing」 You can write more than one character. Writing another character while another character is active will not stop the first character's effects. Also, you can write the same character continuously which produces a synergistic effect.
  • MP cost: 50
「Two-Word Chain」Two words can be used to cast a spell. The effect is much stronger than when a single word is written down and activated. It will influence everything in the written area, and the reach of the effect will also improve but it will also be limited by what is written as well. The duration of the two-word-chain effect is limited to the shortest word within the spell. Unless you have a precise image of the word effect, you will not be able to write the two words.
  • If you are interrupted while writing the two words, you will receive a <<rebound>> 50% reduction in all stats, and you will not be able to use magic. All stats and abilities will be returned to normal after 6 hours.
  • MP Cost: 300
「Simultaneous Invocation」 Before, when Hiiro wrote a new word, the previous word’s effect would be erased. With this skill, this limitation has been removed. Hiiro is now able to write other words simultaneously, however, he can only activate words one at a time, thus, he still needs to exercise caution. Also, activating the same word will still trigger a synergistic effect as shown with the skill of Parallel Writing. He gained this ability at level 60.
  • If he didn’t use the word he wrote, he needed to be mindful of the increasing MP costs. The first Simultaneous Word would cost 30 MP, the second would cost 60 MP, the third would cost 90 MP, and so on depending on how many words he wanted.
  • MP cost: x 30
「Invocation Management」 It is now possible to manipulate the invocation of a maximum of 5 words. It is possible to activate a previously written word at any given time. However, this skill can only be applied to the One-Word Chain skill. In addition, the user must be within 300 meters of the words written before they can be triggered.
  • Before, when he used word magic, he would write out a word in thin air and it would remain there, disappearing only if it was left alone for a long period or if it was activated. With this skill, if he wrote with the Invocation Management skill, he would write the word as usual, but the word would disappear and remain at that location. This meant that it would be invisible to other people. As long as he is within a 300-meter radius, he can locate and activate those words at will.
  • Not only can this be used as a potential trap, but he could also activate all five words at the same time for a full frontal assault. Its only limitation was that it could only be used with One-Word spells. Incidentally, writing a Two-Word Spell would cause any planted One-Word spells to disappear.
  • He also needed to take extra precautions if he moved outside the range of the words. Should he go out of range, the words installed would disappear.
  • MP cost: 250
「Three-Word Chain」 It is now possible for Hiiro to write and connect three words. Similar to the two-word skill, the effective range, influence, and versatility of the spell improves, although the effect duration still depends on the words written. When this ability has been unlocked, the restrictions placed on two-word spells are lifted. Up until now, if he were to use a two-word spell, the words installed using the Invocation Management skill would lose all of their effects. However, this restriction is now released. Instead, this limitation now applies to three-word spells. Additionally, the abilities of Simultaneous Invocation and Invocation Management now apply to two-word spells. However, the installation limit of setting 5 words doesn’t change for Invocation Management. Furthermore, regarding the Simultaneous Invocation, he must exercise caution for there are certain words that cannot be used.
  • In the manga when Hiiro attempted to change the ice field back into a desert with a single word, he suffered a rebound. Hiiro must undo his three-word chain with another three-word chain for the magic to work.
  • MP Cost: 600
「Rebound」 [Effect] For six hours, Hiiro is unable to use Word Magic, and all his stats are halved. This was a significant penalty. If he were to incur this penalty in the middle of battle, he would be crippled and would have a high chance of getting himself killed. Another part of the rebound for Hiiro is that should he ever use word magic when the MP is 0, his HP would be used instead.
  • The restrictions of the Two-Word Chain skill are now applied to the Three-Word Chain skill. However, if the process of writing the words is interrupted, the Rebound will decrease all of his status fields by 30%. Furthermore, Hiiro will be rendered unable to use magic, as well as being inflicted with a random Abnormal Status Effect. The Abnormal statutes that may be inflicted include Severe Pain, Paralysis, Sleep, Blindness, and Confusion. This Abnormal Condition would last for 1 hour, while the reduction in stats and inability to utilize Magic would last for 6 hours.
「Remote Operation」 Enables remote control of words with Air writing. However, each word can only be moved within its effective range. Once a word touches something, it cannot be moved any further.
  • MP cost: 30
「Range Designation」 Hiiro can write two strings, one specifying the effect and the other designating the area of the effect. Note that strings must contain the same number of words: single-word chains for single-word spells and two-word chains for two-word spells.
  • MP cost: 1000
「Automatic Writing」
「Four-Word Chain」 It is now possible to write four characters in the same line. Similar to 《Three Word Chain》, the effective range, the power, and its utility, greatly improve. When unlocking this ability, though the duration of its effect is still dependent on the desired character, the restriction for 《Three Word Chain》 is released. The content is identical to the 《Two Word Chain》. However this time, the stock for 《Invocation Management》 is increased, making it possible to install as many as 7 characters in total. 《Four Word Chain》 can be used up to three times a day, and the character with the equivalent effect cannot be used simultaneously. After it is used once, you can only use 《One Word Chain》 with your MP not recovering. Also, once the execution of 《Word Magic》 is interrupted in the process, all your stats will return to your Level 1 state as a 《Rebound》, and it will become impossible to practice magic. In addition, you will bear a random abnormal state: various kinds of pain, paralysis, sleep, loss of sight, and confusion. The status reduction, random abnormal state, and loss of magic will return to their former state after an hour.
  • MP Consumption: 30% of the maximum Mana.

After unlocking more abilities of his Word Magic, Hiiro became capable of writing preset words that he could activate immediately, as opposed to having to write them individually each time. It's thanks to this that Hiiro's game-breaking power is taken to new heights. Because of the nature of his magic, Hiiro only needs to write down what he wants to happen/change so the need for him to name techniques and skills is redundant. This aspect of his power is quite troublesome for his enemies as they have no idea what move he's going to make until it's too late.

"Well, I don't care about them. As for myself... I can make do anywhere."

Hiiro

By writing this word literally (飛行), Hiiro can ascend through the air for a short period. By using the word Pry (撬), Hiiro can essentially learn his enemies' current level, experience, skills, and titles in an instant. It's one of the many abilities he has that makes him absolutely broken. As stronger enemies show up, however, the word Pry isn't sufficient enough to learn their information and Hiiro theorizes that he'd have to use a word with more letters that has the same meaning, like Judge (法官).

Painfully aware of how certain fights will play out due to his vast knowledge of literature, Hiiro finishes most of his fights without letting the other party learn of his abilities or allowing them to transform. His battle with Crouch specifically highlighted this where she had been critically injured and Hiiro being who he is, immediately attacked her again when he saw that her body was changing.

Equipment's
Hiiro's sword [Thorn Piercer] has ridiculously sharp piercing power, made even more deadly when he writes Extend (延伸), and it stretches several feet.
Thorn Piercer
  • It looks like a Japanese sword and has the same blade length as one. The only difference is that the blade is clear like ice. It’s a Katana specializing in piercing. It's a kind of sword that was created by the Gabranth. Unlike the swords made by Humas which focus on slashes with all one’s might, it has a sharp blade to cut apart the prey with speed instead of power. The sharpness of Piercer is guaranteed, but its specialty is thrust. As the name implies, it’s a Katana that can pierce anything. It may look like this, but it’s sturdy without a doubt.
  • This sword is later merged with Severing Sword - Slasher, which specializes in slashing, while retaining its original piercing specialty, thus becoming an all-purpose sword. When attacking an opponent clad in magic power, Slasher is capable of attacking the opponent’s magic power itself. This would lead to the opponent becoming intoxicated by magic power, muddling their consciousness. Naturally, this would not have much of an effect on those with a high degree of control over their magic power. However, it is possible to knock those bad at controlling their magic power unconscious in a single moment.
Fairy Ring
  • It’s a sign that one has received the trust of the Faeries.

Somewhat downplayed since unless he's fighting Mooks (where it's completely played straight), most of Hiiro's fights don't consist of these despite his power being so ridiculously broken. Because he's still learning the kinks of his weird power, several fights are shown where is actively experimenting with his magic to see if certain things will work or not.
