Character[]
The protagonist of this series. He is a male deity who descended from the other world (Earth) at the behest of Supreme God Ambarens, the chief deity of the world of "Kaihara and Nakahara," where this work is set. He was originally a man who lived as a martial artist in early modern Japan. On his journey to train as a warrior, he happened to pass by a village that was under attack by wild samurai and died in battle after defeating the bandits single-handedly. The villagers who were saved by him revered the scabbard he left behind as a sacred object, and it became the village's land god, Akazaya. However, in modern times, the village he saved has become depopulated and abandoned, and Akazaya, having lost his faith, simply waits to disappear. Then, Ambarense visits the abandoned Akazaya Shrine and asks him to become the guardian god of an important land, to which he agrees.
In the presence of gods, angels, spirits, humans, and other living creatures, he appears as he did when he was human, but this is a "kind of three-dimensional image" created by his divine powers, which is transparent when viewed closely. The figure is strong and slender, with three white eyes, and wears a black costume and red haori. As mentioned above, the red scabbard (Akazaya) is a relic of the deity, and it is an existence beyond human knowledge, as it did not suffer a scratch when it landed on the surface of the planet "Kaihara and Nakahara" from outside the atmosphere during its descent. Also, because his body is a sheath, he is unable to fly, unlike other gods and angels.
As a god of the other world, he is inefficient in converting faith into power, and in terms of his divine power, he is said to have remained a minor deity for several hundred years, but his spiritual experience in showering blessings on the land is so great that it overturns the common knowledge of the gods of "Kaihara and Nakahara." He is a god of boundless mercy who wishes for the happiness of all living creatures inhabiting the land and brings them various blessings. However, since he was originally a small local deity believed in only by one village, he is bewildered by the size of the deity in "Nakahara and Kaihara," and at the same time, he is an extremely good-natured person, easily being carried away by the things around him and causing panic. He is also very good with alcohol.
Abilities[]
He was born into a samurai family called Matsuba, but when he lost his place, he set out on a journey and became a ronin. Wherever he went, he got into trouble, and along the way, he met Ōkuninushi and Tanuki. One day, he was mortally wounded in a series of battles with a vengeful spirit, a vampire, and a witch, and died when he was exposed to a lethal dose of poison and went on a rampage with a bamboo sword against several armed men to defend a farming village against bandits.
Matsuba Shinden-ryu (松葉新田流)
A school of swordsmanship used by Akazaya and Mizuhiko Matsuba. On Earth, it has been handed down as a practical assassination sword and is not well known to the public. This technique allows Akazaya to achieve a serene state of mind regardless of the situation, thanks to undergoing arduous training. A ultimate ultimate mental state and concentration that a highest-order swordsman can attain by instantly reducing the distance between Akazaya and the opponent. With a precise walking technique, many martial arts form years of trying to achieve. It’s not pure quickness, it’s a perfect combination of multiple phenomena, like walking techniques, defensive body movement, Breathing, and identifying blind spots. This technique can be released with a precise and clean cut or slash even by a dull blade or a broken blade. |
The Akazaya Shrine, after Akazaya was gone
The Akazaya is enshrined in a village deep in the mountains during the Edo period, which at that time was quite prosperous except in times of crop failure. It has been over a decade since the village was abandoned with no inhabitants due to modern depopulation. It was thought that the Akazaya Shrine would simply fall into decay after the disappearance of the Akazaya. Still, for some unknown reason, it was rebuilt by a person with special powers of observation, and a figure supervised by Tanuki-san was placed as the sacred object. When his sacred object "red scabbard (Akazaya)" was placed into a spot on the ground it create a mark of the region as his dominion by securing the surrounding earth's veins before an engagement, permitting reinforcement of his combat capabilities when fighting in defense even deploying a barrier. |

Akazaya Sacred Relic
After that, he was worshipped as the god of prosperity and good harvest and ruled over the land, but the depopulation of the land led to the abandonment of the village, and he was left just waiting to disappear, but he was recruited by Ambarens, the supreme god of the other world, the sea, and the middle plain, and became the land god of the abandoned and become a local deity in the abandoned land called "Akazaya Village".
He gained a divine power through the worshipping of local people as their local god on Earth, upon being recruited by the supreme god Ambarens and accepted as management of his world Akazaya received a boost of his divine power.
He has a small-town personality (anecdote). Even if he is better than them, he is always scared of someone great, so in Nakahara and Kaihara, he is usually scared of anyone he meets for the first time. He loves rice cake, a sweet bean-jam cake that was offered to him by a child in the past, and he often talks about that time. He has a severe sense of direction, and even though he has walked in the Tohoku, Kyushu, Shikoku, and Ezo regions, he is so cursed that he thinks he is on his way home even though he has walked in the other worlds and hell.
It is said that he may have been stronger before he became a god. Since he arrived in the redeemed land, he has been worshipped by beings higher in rank than the Akazaya by earthly standards, and his life (which doesn't exist) seems to be full of holes in his stomach.
