A protagonist of this work. A boy living in Japan, an ordinary high school student who loves food and the outdoors. He is bright, active, and has a passion for eating. He has a strong interest in survival and exploration, and he is also curious about unknown plants, animals, and ingredients. He loses his life in a traffic accident the day before a camping trip and is reincarnated in an unfamiliar world called "Viel." After realizing he has been reincarnated, he prioritizes securing water and food while exploring his surroundings, and starting a survival life alone using some of the tools he had, such as a plastic bottle and a utility knife. Being an outdoor enthusiast, he possesses extensive survival knowledge and is skilled in cooking.
Volume 1
Kazusa Yuu, an ordinary high school student who loves food and the outdoors, loses his life in a traffic accident the day before a camping trip he was looking forward to. When Yuu wakes up, he finds himself in an unfamiliar otherworldly place called "Viel," where strange plants and animals thrive in a mysterious landscape. Realizing he has been reincarnated in another world, Yuu begins to explore his surroundings and, using his survival knowledge tries to secure food and water to live independently. During this process, he discovers that he has gained the ability to sense poison. He constructs a tent to shield himself from the rain and wind and creates cooking tools, embarking on a serious survival life. A few days after being reincarnated in Viel, Yuu falls off a cliff while exploring and prepares for death, but somehow he escapes with only minor injuries. Noticing that his body has become unusually hard, he realizes that the shrimp he ate recently has granted him the ability to harden. Yuu comes to understand that he has awakened a cheat skill that allows him to "gain the abilities of what he has eaten," in addition to his poison sensing. Utilizing these skills, Yuu continues his exploration, investigating the characteristics of the surrounding flora and fauna and the details of his abilities. While exploring, he hears a human scream and, curious, goes to check it out, only to find a silver-haired girl collapsed. The girl, who introduces herself as a magician named Clara, has injured her leg and will accompany Yuu until her magical healing is complete. As Yuu learns about Viel from Clara, he begins to enjoy his new life with her.
Volume 2
In the other world "Viel," Yuu, who enjoys a survival life, welcomes a new knight girl, Katia Filowa, as a companion. Utilizing camping knowledge, survival skills, and abilities gained in Viel, Yuu continuously acquires mysterious powers. The dangerous wilderness, teeming with ferocious monsters, becomes a treasure trove of ingredients for them, and they not only enjoy battles but also cooking and meals, accumulating knowledge and experience. The next target for Yuu and his companions is unknown seafood swimming in the beautiful sea. Leaving Clara in charge, Yuu begins free diving with Katia and encounters a fish he has never seen before, but fails to capture it due to a loud noise. Regaining his composure with Katia's advice, Yuu challenges another fish and successfully captures it by carefully launching an attack. Furthermore, after hearing from Katia about the existence of the "Polar Region" somewhere in this world, Yuu becomes strongly interested in seeking encounters with unknown monsters of great power. Returning to camp, Yuu reunites with Clara and begins cooking with the babulin captured from the sea. After learning about the common cooking methods for babulin, Yuu carefully removes the parasites and attempts unfamiliar dishes like fish ball soup and carpaccio. The cooking is successful, and Clara and Katia are impressed by the unfamiliar dishes and tastes. During the conversation after the meal, Yuu learns that there is no custom of eating raw fish in Viel, and nutrition science is not very developed. Yuu begins to talk to Clara and the others about the importance of nutritional balance, raising their curiosity.
Volume 3
While Yuu and his companions were enjoying cooking while continuing their survival life in a house they built in the mountains, they were forced to leave their camp for safety due to the appearance of a powerful fire dragon. Supporting Clara, who had not yet fully healed, Yuu began to descend the mountain, excited about the culture and food of her hometown. However, on the way to the village, they encountered the fire dragon again, cutting off their escape route. Determined not to flee, Yuu decided to confront it and, while coordinating with Katia Filowa, dodged the successive attacks. However, the highly intelligent fire dragon began to anticipate their attacks, and sensing this, Yuu proposed a counterattack strategy to Katia. The protagonist, Yuu, who yearns for the secret realm "Polar Region" inhabited by powerful monsters, dreams of going there one day and sets off on another journey with Clara. To reunite with Katia Filovia, who has taken a separate path for a while, Yuu and Clara visit the vast city of "Moirus," planning to explore the city while also grabbing a bite to eat. Before that, they decide to prepare some money based on a rare dragon's claw and visit the currency exchange dealer Henry. One of the two claws will be exchanged by Henry, while the other will be processed into a powerful knife at a workshop he introduces. After entrusting the claw to the reputed craftsman, Yuu and Clara return to the city, visiting various stalls and being amazed by unknown dishes and ingredients. At one of the stalls selling sweet potato stew, Yuu is moved by the nostalgic taste, but the stall is not doing well, and the owner sadly mentions that he plans to close the stall by the end of the day. Thinking it would be a waste for the sweet potato stew to go to waste, Yuu suggests a side dish using the leftover potatoes. The dish he creates is simply thinly sliced and fried potato chips, a recipe unknown in the other world "Viere," making it a completely new flavor for the owner and Clara. As they observe the stall thriving after the owner starts selling potato chips alongside the sweet potato stew, Yuu and Clara head toward the Zao Church temple where Katia is waiting. Just after their reunion with Katia after several weeks, they are asked by her to meet Dimitrius Randall, who is interested in Yuu, and they follow her guidance deeper into the temple.
