Character[]
A boy living in the remote village of Verun. He is 16 years old at his first appearance. In his previous life, he was the oldest divine dragon, having spent an eternal time and ended his life after being defeated by a hero out of solitude. However, he was reincarnated as a human and grew into a sincere and diligent person. Even after his reincarnation, he retains the memories of his time as a divine dragon and possesses the magical powers of his dragon lineage, allowing him to master various spells. While doing farm work and hunting monsters, he enjoys a simple yet warm second life with his beloved family and villagers. Although he was the strongest divine dragon in his previous life, he feels a modest happiness in his daily life as a human due to his past loneliness. In the village of Verun, he is admired by a young girl named Airi, but Dolan is completely unaware of her feelings as he is not experienced in matters of love. During an investigation in the swamp, he meets a lamia girl named Celina.
Personality and Speech Habits[]
Although it is cooperative, it is basically a free-spirited, easy-going personality, delicate in some places, and sensitive to solitude and loneliness because it inherited the heart of the ancestral dragon. As the eponymous dragon itself was unable to endure loneliness and tore itself apart to create the dragonoma, the dragon who inherited its heart is also more emotional than the years he spent as a Ancient God Dragon. Therefore, even though the portrayal itself may seem dull at first, he cares a lot about the reactions of the heroines when they find out about his previous life. Even their human parents and family members who gave birth to them are overwhelmed by the fear that they will be shunned if they know their true identities, and they become genuinely distraught and disheartened after a hilarious incident involving Kalavith, the goddess of destruction and oblivion, who is a high-ranking deity and a villainous cause of many tiring disturbances.
Despite his years of experience and knowledge of the world's many secrets, his position as the most powerful man in the world means that he tends to solve troublesome problems with force rather than wisdom. As a result, his classmate at Wizarding School, Nernesia, described him as someone who solves everything with a single word: "Hmmm." Dolan wondered a bit about the wisdom of that assessment, and whether it was the right way to go, but Nernesia told him that right and wrong didn't matter when it came to solving problems.
As an Ancient God Dragon, the way he speaks and the words he chooses to use are incongruous with the appearance of a boy, and he looks like an old man. Also, although he is not conscious of it, he emits a paternalistic or transcendent aura as an Ancient God Dragon from his whole body. Because of this manner of speaking and his unique aura, even those around him who are unaware of the situation in everyday life often feel as if they are facing an absurdly great being in a trivial moment.
Dolan is a gentle person, and even Renia is so affectionate that she opens her heart to him and recognizes him as the daughter of a Lamia. He is also the highest-ranking being in the worldview of the story, so he communicates with high-ranking gods and those in a position to rule the country. As such, it is easy to be perceived by such opponents as someone they want to rely on. It stimulates a lot of thoughts in their minds that they don't even realize that they want to rely on someone or want to be pampered. Because of their inclusive and supportive nature, they tend to be very easy to trust and gain the favor of the opposite sex. However, when it comes to enemies who threaten his people and the things she holds dear, she is majestic and ruthless.
As the world's most powerful being with near-omnipotence, he doesn't lose his characteristic serious face when dealing with enemies. Rather than taking out all of his opponents in one fell swoop, he takes all of their hands one by one and then defeats them after they have shown all of their hands.
When thinking in everyday life, he uses his human brain instead of the soul of a God Dragon. Because of this, his cognitive abilities to understand his surroundings are usually limited to human levels. However, ever since the war between Ryukitsu and Sea Dragon, she has been on high alert so that she can respond immediately to any crisis in the surface world. Dolan believes that catastrophes on the surface world should be dealt with by its inhabitants, so he only deals directly with crises that affect his own life whenever possible.
He has an unusual habit of using the exclamation hmm not just as an exclamation, but casually in many situations. Sometimes he just makes a hmm sound and then continues speaking. Whenever anyone around him imagines Dolan taking down his enemies in one fell swoop, they imagine him standing there, relaxed, making a "hmm" sound.
Abilities[]
Dolan's strength against the enemies faced is not impressive, making it difficult to gauge the protagonist's past life. However, the old acquaintances in the story are all extraordinary high-level gods, and even a weaker dragon lord can destroy a planet or even a sun if not careful with their power. As the story progresses, the strength of the protagonist and the seven dragons of the origin becomes evident. As a side note, when Dolan openly uses the power of the divine dragon, his eyes emit a rainbow-colored magical energy. When Dolan uses the magic of all attributes, a total of seven colors appear depending on the attribute, suggesting that the rainbow color symbolizes the magic of all things.
At this point in the story, Dolan is in a nerfed state due to a curse from his past life that caused his soul to deteriorate significantly upon being reborn as a human. However, he is incredibly dedicated to life and full of vitality. Thus, in some sense, he is not any weaker than before and might even be stronger now.
The limitations in the story mainly revolve around the inability to easily remove the curse from his past life, which has become one with his soul, and the fact that although he has defeated the goddess of destruction and oblivion, Kalavith, several times, he has never annihilated her. In any case, while there are limitations, he is not omnipotent; these limitations are quite special cases. Therefore, it is not incorrect to describe him as a being that is very close to omnipotence, even if he is not truly omnipotent. All the abilities listed below are the specs of a dragon whose soul has deteriorated and is in a severely nerfed state after being reborn as a human.
- Starting from the level of magic or alchemy learned by humans, he can effortlessly wield various forms of magic, including the unique draconic terminology magic, necromancy, and spirit magic, without any restrictions. Although he possesses the powers and abilities of the High Divine Dragon, making it unnecessary to use them, he prefers to utilize these magics instead of abusing the near-omnipotent reality manipulation that comes with being a High Divine Dragon, as he is hiding his true identity.
- The High Divine Dragon and his siblings, the seven dragons of origin, can easily perform abilities such as probability manipulation, time manipulation, and reality manipulation. Furthermore, even if they were subjected to such abilities, they possess enough power to simply ignore the forces of opponents who are spiritually inferior to the High Divine Dragon. In the story, when Dolan fought the magician Zagras, a subordinate of Bastrell, he boldly declared that the opponent's hand would not work against him. At that time, Dolan recited the opponent's hand while asking if he intended to sink him in gravity, create a hole to banish him to another dimension or manipulate the probability of existence to revert him to nothingness, asserting that none of it would work on him. Even the powers of gods dealing with multiverse-scale forces were ineffective against him.
- When Dolan fought the evil god Ocrtur in a certain space of his domain, Ocrtur launched an attack that compressed many universes into a liquid state, creating an assault that would sweep away the multiverse itself if the battleground were on the ground. Instead of falling into the water, being hit by this torrent would mean falling into space or the universe. This vast stream of water was composed of universes that Ocrtur had instantaneously created and compressed to the size of atoms. The purpose of this torrent was to deliver all the destructive power generated until the created universe perished directly onto his adversary. However, Dolan parted and nullified this torrent of compressed universes with a mere gesture.
- In the battle against the great enemy, Bastrell of Daemado, he created a universe in the blink of an eye, using a disposable field where the stars were black and the surroundings were entirely white as if colors had been inverted between the 10th and 11th dimensions. Dolan himself assessed that the act of creating this universe was something even the lowest-ranked god could achieve. However, Dolan is more powerful than even high-ranking gods, let alone the lowest ranks.
- After Bastrell utilized Dolan's power to approach the realm of the Ancient Dragon, he quickly began creating an infinite multiverse with unfamiliar skills. He then erased the multiverse he had created in an instant, stating that even before reaching the realm of the Ancient Dragon, he had already acquired several secrets related to the dominion of time, the revelation of spatial mysteries, the relationship between life and death, the manipulation of thought through causal changes, and the exercise of infinite power through connections with other dimensions. Nevertheless, from the perspective of the realm of the Ancient Dragon, he felt that the effort to pursue those things was ultimately futile. The description of Bahamut, the eldest among the seven dragons of the origin, managing the aftermath of the nerve conflict between Karavis and Alexander, confirms this reality manipulation. Bahamut did not perform grand incantations or elaborate magic circles. Merely expressing thoughts like "Disappear" or "Be corrected" was sufficient. With just that, he restored all dimensions and universes affected by Karavis's emotions back to their original state. However, such modifications to lower dimensions are tasks that not only the seven dragons of the origin can accomplish but also weaker gods can perform if they fully utilize their divine powers. This is because gods or high-ranking dragon species can change the laws of the world as easily as breathing. For reference, the dragon-god realm created by the seven dragons of the origin is a higher dimension of the multiverse, like the heavenly realm or the realm of the dead.
Dolan can discern hidden things by using the Ancient Dragon's magical power to transform his eyes into a magical eye
or dragon eye
, allowing him to see through various concealment spells. Dolan can even read the hearts of others, but due to his nature, he prefers to understand others' feelings through their expressions and atmosphere. Bastrell, who briefly entered Dolan's domain, was able to observe events occurring in all dimensions simultaneously and sense energies without any limitations on his cognitive abilities. Specifically, he could vividly reflect the numerous spirits playing in the higher dimension of the multiverse, comprehend the conversations exchanged by the queens of the fairy realm with his ears, and, with a flap of his wings, excel in battles against the divine realm, easily ending the lives of the evil gods in the demon realm when showcasing his skills. However, in his everyday life, Dolan uses a human brain instead of the soul of the Ancient Dragon, imposing human-level restrictions on his cognitive and thinking abilities. Nonetheless, following the battle against the seahorse that invaded the Dragon Palace, he has expanded his cognitive abilities to establish a vigilance network for immediate response in case of crises in the earthly world.
- Above all, the dragon is born from the heart of the progenitor dragon, which makes it exceptional in manipulating the concepts of flow and circulation that all things possess, compared to the seven dragons of other origins. Because of this, the power output by the dragon correlates with the strength of the great mage Bastriel, who was fighting Dolan, who, in an instant, had the power he had gathered stolen by Dolan. Since the essence of the authority Bastriel wielded originally belonged to the dragon, it was only natural that Dolan, the dragon himself, and his past life, would handle that power better than anyone else.
- While not omnipotent, he is at a level close to that of a cosmic being. Even the Dragon Slayer, a cheat item that gathers energy from the World, was insufficient to kill Dolan. Moreover, not only Dolan but the roars of the seven dragons of origin, when unleashed with full power, could potentially destroy not just one universe but all worlds belonging to the multiverse and other dimensions. In fact, during Dolan's time as a high divine dragon, his sister Alexander frequently unintentionally revealed the terrifying specs of these high divine dragons due to power control mishaps. For example, when Alexander came to apologize to Dolan but, embarrassed, let out a scream, it nearly destroyed the multiverse, requiring Dolan to counteract it with a roar. Additionally, when Alexander laughed carelessly between dimensions, it affected other dimensions. Her laughter revived a universe that had already faced thermal death, giving it vitality akin to infinity, restoring an old universe nearing the end of its lifespan, and postponing the impending doom for countless lives there. Thus, it is said that having the power to influence the fate of countless universes with just a laugh is only natural for one known as a high divine dragon.
