In another world lies Mugen, an island founded by humanity's hopes and dreams and populated by animal spirits. The island is sustained by a giant tree pole called the Novel Pole, which is constructed of humanity's literature that leads to other worlds called Novel Worlds. But darkness lurks beneath Mugen's ocean abyss, the Jyarei Forces are bent on sinking Mugen by sabotaging the Worlds' stories to bring chaos and despair. To prevent this, twelve animal spirits who are chosen to represent the Chinese zodiac must enter the Novel Worlds and dispose of the Jyarei Monsters to protect their world. And so, their adventure begins!
