"I am the harbinger of darkness, the Demon Lord Veltol Velvet Velsvalt! Heinous act are a staple for me!! "

Veltol

500 years ago, the Demon King fought against the hero Gram to dominate the magical world of 'Alneath.' Later, he was resurrected in a world 500 years later due to the reincarnation magic 'Wheel of Dharma: Methenoel,' but what he witnessed was Alneath, where all traces of the past had disappeared as a result of overwhelming technological advancement achieved through the fusion with Earth. Demon Lord, Veltol excel in both strategic command and military tactics leading large armies in his prime.

The other immortals, elves, beastmen, monsters, and mortals who used Aether can only be capable of omitting the "incantation." The "non-incantation magic" is one of Veltol unique traits that fastest arcane arts in which makes him a formidable Demon Lord. Veltol has a perfect body with a muscular shape, even without training. What's more, the body shape won't change, and no matter how many calories he ingests, he is still in perfect shape. Veltol is also great in swordsmanship can par with the skill of Hero Gram.

The source of the Demon King's power comes from the faith directed towards him, but after being defeated by the hero and with 500 years having passed, that faith has long since run dry, leaving him a penniless individual with neither status nor job. He is now trying to make a comeback by working as an internet broadcaster, recommended by his first friend in modern times, a hacker named 'Takahashi.' Surprisingly, he quickly adapts to modern life, wearing a Nagran jersey instead of armor, and on his internet broadcasts, he leverages his poor gaming skills, old-fashioned speech, and handsome appearance to surpass millions of subscribers in just three months, smoothly progressing with his plans.

  • Demon Lord Veltol is an Immortal (不死) race, a species that has no concept of lifespan and possesses infinite life.
  • Forgotten in the era, with weakened faith and unable to showcase true abilities, Veltol struggled to find work until he started as a live streamer at Takahashi's suggestion. Despite going against the trends with face-cam streaming, my beautiful appearance and lackluster gaming skills surpassed millions of channel subscribers in just three months.
  • The source of Veltol's power is defined in "Faith (信仰力)". It is the power gained by being observed by a third party and having emotions directed towards it, regardless of whether they are positive or negative. The more faith he gets in live-streaming, the more faith he gains, and the more magic powerful he gets.
  • Another source of power, Veltol's can be obtained called "Ether." The Ether is a spiritual element that springs from the center of a star and runs through the earth. A substance essential for the exercise of magic, as he is in the vein of the world Veltol can use this Ether as his secondary source of magic power after IHMI spreads the Familia to the world. Veltol obtained a new height of non-incantation magic to a new level.
Dark Sword Vernal

Dark Sword Vernal

Though he has a strong pride as a powerful being, he is not rigid; he possesses a flexible mindset that allows him to adapt quickly even in the world 500 years later. He is a person of character who would bow his head to the hero for the sake of his companions. He initially sought to dominate the world to create a realm where the weak would not cause conflicts. However, due to his long-held belief in the superiority of the strong, which he considered common sense since birth, he became somewhat extreme and lacking in empathy in various ways, and he has a serious personality. Due to his great adaptation to anything, Veltol can resolve any tactics in combat. He has a treasure weapon called Dark Sword Vernal. When it releases its true form, "Vernal Diel" the dark blade itself changes into a pure white blade, and it can rend the soul when it strikes its opponent.

Veltol has a second form when he feels despair in the battle. Veltol's aura emits fear, insanity, and despair to those who see his second form of a dark dragon. In his time, he was constructing a castle with a deep dungeon and a throne room under Aether ley lines. Taking in thus form, a high concentration of power from the Aether lines and strong faith are required to manifest to his second form. In this form of his, Veltol can replicate the function of the Famila system and cast magic using the same superposition within himself.

According to the author, Murasaki, he is "someone with a flexible mind who can gradually adapt to the world 500 years later," and the author is conscious of this aspect in the portrayal. At the end of the Akihabara Arc, Veltol acquired the Magic Record of the Black Dragon Lord Shilvaldo.

Production Background[]

The author, Murasaki, is a video game enthusiast who thought that the word "would be interesting as entertainment," which depicts "a worldview that I accumulated from games and movies and incorporated into my own." In the past, when Murasaki submitted a similar work that leaned toward science fiction, he had experienced "being pointed out in the selection committee that it was slightly difficult to approach". Therefore, in this work, Murasaki "actively incorporated easy-to-understand fantasy elements" and "crossed a high-fantasy worldview with a science fiction worldview of telekinesis and networks," while prioritizing the enjoyment of the work and being careful not to make it too complicated.

There was a proposal to use an Earth character as the main character. Still, because a hero could not be made to do bad things, the "punch was not that strong," and "I felt that the Demon King was more fun to write," Murasaki "decided to use a character that I could also enjoy when writing" as the main character. The Demon King became the main character.

Although this work "weaves in quite a bit of description that is not intertwined with the story's main plot but gives a glimpse of a complex worldview," it is written, "with a clear storyline and with an emphasis on readability." The story is written in a way that is "easy to read, with a clear storyline. Murasaki is not averse to 'mucking around with settings in his head,' and he says he has little difficulty writing about the "fusion of two worlds, one science-based and one magic-based"
