Buta no Liver wa Kanetsu Shiro (豚のレバーは加熱しろ, Heat the Pig Liver: The Story of a Man Turned Into a Pig) also known as Heat the Pig Liver, is a Japanese light novel series written by Takuma Sakai and illustrated by Asagi Tōsaka. ASCII Media Works have published seven volumes since March 2020 under their Dengeki Bunko imprint. A manga adaptation with art by Minami has been serialized in ASCII Media Works' seinen manga magazine Dengeki Maoh since August 2020. It has been collected in five tankōbon volumes. An anime television series adaptation produced by Project No.9 premiered in October 2023.
Synopsis[]
An unappealing otaku awakens in the body of a pig after he passes out while eating raw pig liver. Pig finds himself in the company of Jess, an innocent girl who can read people's minds, and she accepts him despite his boorish thoughts... although she does plan to eat him. When Jess is in danger of succumbing to a dark destiny, can Pig save her using only his quick wits, wisdom, and refined sense of smell?

Character[]
A Yethma girl with a harsh destiny. She is 16 years old. She is pure and innocent, putting others before herself, but she is easily deceived because she does not know how to doubt others. She became acquainted with pigs when she heard the voice of a human heart coming from one of the pigs in the pig pen she was entrusted to manage. He used to work as a maid for the Kirtlin family, a powerful family, but he follows Yethma's destiny and heads for the royal capital. He learns that pigs may also be able to return to human form through the king's magic, and pig and Jess travel together to the royal capital.

| A male otaku student at a Japanese university loses consciousness on a station platform after eating raw pork liver at the suggestion of a friend. When he wakes up, he finds himself in a hut with many pigs around him. He receives various information from Jess, a Yethma girl he meets there, and learns that he has been reincarnated in another world. When Jess tells him that relying on the king's magic in King's Landing is the most likely way to return to his human form, the pig decides to go to King's Landing. Since Jess was also scheduled to leave the next day to take care of some business in King's Landing, they decided to head for King's Landing together. Jess said she wanted to buy something by the end of the day, so the pig went shopping in town, and learned that Jess had a problem. When the pig hears Jess's worries, he comes up with a secret plan. |

| Departing for the royal capital, the pigs and Jess, taking care not to be attacked by rogues, continue through the forest and arrive at a village called Bapsus. After shopping in the village, they head for the inn, where they meet Ceres, a Yethma girl who is helping them. Being of the same race, Jess and Ceres quickly become friends and explain that the pig is a former human and the purpose of their trip to the royal capital. When Jess hears from the innkeeper about the tragic incident at the monastery in Bapsas, she heads to the monastery with the pig and Celes to offer flowers. On the way, they meet Nott, a hunter in Bapsus, who reveals his true identity and asks them to escort him to the royal capital in recognition of Nott's skills. |

Jess came with a race of Yethma people who are treated as servants in other worlds. They are often treated coldly by the world, but some people treat them the same as other races. They can read people's minds, even they can link other's minds and can communicate directly with them by exchanging thoughts in their minds, and they are destined to serve a family until they reach the age of 16. At this point, they will go to the royal capital on their own and live there for the rest of their lives. She is given a silver collar that is infused with tremendous magical power, and the collar can only be removed by cutting off his head. Since the silver collar and Yethma's bones are sold at a high price, Yethma may die on her way to the capital, sometimes at the hands of Hunters who are after her for the money.
- She is interested in history and folklore and often reads books, so she has a wealth of knowledge. Jess has mana on her body because she is a mage, and she can't use it properly. Later in the series/At the end of Episode 12 of the anime, the silver collar is removed by the king stating that she is free. After entering successfully the Royal Capital, Jess gained knowledge by Wyss from reading, writing, and magic.
- She practices in herself without Ristae, and her performance is quietly noticeable even with the other mages even the king himself. Because of her use of Ristae or not using the Ristae, she can release twice the amount of magic power she can produce even with a Ristae gem.
- Ristae Gems: A crystalline boy shaped like a hexagonal pillar is used in Mesteria. Inside are contained magical powers, which wizards distribute. It is a battery-like device used to light lanterns and move objects. There are five colors: red, yellow, green, blue, and black. A Black Ristae magic stone is for prayer (protection, healing " illnesses or injuries", etc.) and can only be used by Yethma, but can perform miracles that only a magician could accomplish.
Based on what the king of Mesteria said the Yethma are the True Mages (WN)/Mages (Anime/LN) in this world. Because of the continuous war of mages fighting for their ego, their population was reduced, in the order of the king, they became slaves to serve a family until they reached the age of 16 and would go to the royal capital on their own and it they determined the success of competent Yethma who can make it to the royal capital are allowed to survive. After being sealed her memories by the king, in pure heart that she loves Mr. Pig she unlocks again her feelings and memories of their journey together.
For some reason, he came to another world in the form of a pig and calls himself a "bespectacled, scrawny, and shitty virgin". To find a clue to return to his original form, he heads for the royal capital with Jess, a girl he met at a pigsty. He is an honest person who cares for others, and he helps Jess through crises and difficulties with his quick wit and perseverance.

Mister Pig (豚)
A male university student who is a nerd reincarnated as a pig in another world. He is 19 years old. After eating raw pig liver, he loses consciousness and wakes up to find that he has been reincarnated in a hovel in another world. Jess, a Yethma girl who is in charge of the pigsty, drags him to the mansion. When Jess reads his mind and reveals that he is a former human, she tells him that he has the best chance of returning to his human form by relying on the king's magic in King's Landing, and he sets off for King's Landing with Jess, who has business in the city.

Since he is unable to speak, he communicates with Jess by having her read his thoughts (giving her a both monologue and dialogue). He can also communicate directly by relaying her thoughts to Jess. He is a pig and cannot wield a sword or use magic, so he has no combat skills. As a science major at university, he can judge things and situations scientifically, and his wits and quick thinking get him out of trouble on many occasions. Nott gave him two pairs of Silver Bracelets that can control water, create ice, and make changes to the terrain.
Because of her wish, the soul of a Japanese person transferred into a pig to accompany her to the Royal Capital. At the end of the anime, He returns to Japan and makes a light novel in his journey, but goes back to Mesteria and becomes a pig once again. Even if he died in Mesteria, he would go back to Earth and go back again to Mesteria. The story continues in nth volume of the Light Novel.

TV Anime[]
On December 11, 2021, during the live-streamed "Dengeki Bunko Winter Festival 2021" event, an anime television series adaptation was announced. It is produced by Project No.9 and directed by Masayuki Takahashi, with scripts written by Deko Akao, character designs handled by Susumu Watanabe, and music composed by Kenichiro Suehiro and Mayuko. The series premiered on October 8, 2023, on Tokyo MX and other networks. The opening theme song is "Watashi ga Warau Riyū wa" (私が笑う理由は, "The Reason I Laugh Is") by Asca, while the ending theme song is "Hitori Janai yo" (ひとりじゃないよ, "I'm Not Alone") by Myuk.
