Originally published via the novel posting website Shōsetsuka ni Narō in July 2019, the series was later acquired by Kadokawa, which began publishing the series in print with illustrations by Murakami, Yuichi. Kadokawa has released revised and illustrated version of the series since April 3, 2020 under its Dragon Novels label. A manga adaptation, illustrated by Shoubu, began serialization on the Niconico-based web manga platform Gangan Online in September 2020.
Synopsis[]
Regaining the memories of his previous life, Cyril realized that he was an otome game's character, the villainous daughter Sophia's butler. At the rate things were going, Sophia would eventually have the prince stolen away from her by the heroine, fall into darkness, and be executed. Character[]
The main character of this work who serves as Sophia's exclusive butler. In the original game "Hikari to Yami no Espressivo", he took part in Sophia's evil deeds, and as a result, he and she were destroyed (In game). In his current world, as a reincarnated person, he uses the knowledge of the original game he gained in his previous life to act to avoid the destruction of her Sophia and herself. (Current) A butler for Sofia Rosenberg and he is currently studying as a junior high school student at the Royal Londbell Academy with Sofia.
In the game Hikari to Yami no Espressivo, Cyril is the villainess, Sofia Rosenberg's butler who harasses the protagonist, Alicia Lindbell, to make her fiancé, Prince Alforth Efenia switch his sole attention to his bride-to-be. The prince learns of his fiancée's acts of cruelty toward Alicia and sentences both Sofia and Cyril to death.
He is the son of the Rosenberg family's head butler who has retained memories of his past life as one who has played the Otome game and remembers the cruel fate he shares with Sofia, does everything he can by becoming Sofia's exclusive butler at an earlier age to prevent both his and his lady's death in the future.

Cyril who was reborn into the world of a game he played and at a very young age, decided to dedicate his life to protecting Sophia as her personal servant. He is from a world with both advanced science and magic, and has many talents carried over from it. He excels at taking proactive steps and planning ahead, but he also tends to overthink things.
He was an unnamed otaku reborn as the boy who would become the villainess' butler, who would be executed as an accomplice. Using his knowledge of future events, and wanting to avoid his death, he becomes her butler much earlier and gets rid of events that would cause her to become the villainess in the first place.
He is very knowledgeable in magic, because of his previous life of his as a normal student who majored in magic, but since science and magic were more developed in that world of his, the knowledge he had in his previous life was nothing but valuable in this world (Hikari to Yami no Espressivo Game).

- Cyril will very likely obtain a noble title in the end; but due to contributions that were not planned by Sophia, as is the pattern with his reputation getting boosted.
- What makes this story different from most reincarnated into a class society stories is Cyril is stuck in a WORSE position than someone who is a commoner; he's a servant to the girl he mutually loves. So they can't have a legitimate romance, as servants are (rarely) just used as lovers in loveless noble marriages; something Sophia is adamantly against, as she loves Cyril and him alone.
- It's this very problem that is the reason Sophia is doing everything she can to make Cyril be recognized for his merits.
- Ironically, Prince Alphonse is the only noble child to actually ACT HIS AGE; the rest of the students, even the heroine, are aware of politics. It's this fact that let's him see how noble society's double-meaning words is a waste of time; believing kids should just be themselves and act their ages.
